Loro Piana’s first Korean ambassador Hyun Bin is suave and calm in the rich greens and blues of St Moritz, dressed in the brand’s Fall Winter 2022-2023 menswear collection.
There’s something about the grandeur of looming mountains and the mix of green and blue in a landscape that just puts the mind at ease. It’s probably the fact that we physically feel the magnitude of our physical world size up our everyday challenges and problems that we feel comforted.
Life can be so much more than our tiny desk-bound work lives, and there’s so much more to be curious about and dream of, and so much of nature’s wonders can teach us a thing or two about timeless class and grace.
Loro Piana’s Fall Winter 2022-2023 menswear collection is precisely about this mindset — being adventurous and unabashedly a fan of the outdoors without losing a soft sense of formality. Hyun Bin as an actor is already charming in that subdued way, but dress him in the Italian brand’s artisanal cashmere creations and put him against the backdrop of the picturesque Sils Maria and he transforms into someone of fables or fairytales — timeless, pensive and exuding a warm gravitas.
Donning single and double-breasted coats, zip-up hooded jackets and a calfskin bomber, the actor is perfectly composed on a bench beside the lake or at home while sitting on the sun-warmed grass. Even more enchanting is this Man and nature combination when he combines soft-collared polo shirts with corduroy trousers and sneakers.
Modern in essence but old in soul, it blends in perfectly with the hues of the flora of the surroundings while still standing out as thoughtful works of craft.
Perhaps it’s just how effortlessly beautiful all the elements are individually, making these photographs feel especially imposing when put together. But then again, it could just be Hyun Bin working his magic.
