Hermès launches the new Apple Watch Series 8 with a new watch face and refreshed straps, celebrating the house’s equestrian history.

Aside from the usual buzz around the release of the newest iPhone, there’s always something to look forward to in the beloved partnership Hermès has with Apple for its watches. It’s one thing to have a smartwatch that works with the best Apple systems, but it’s a whole other ball game for that technology to be supported by well-crafted straps that look and feel good against the wrist.

In this latest chapter of the Hermès and Apple story, the fashion house looks towards its history for inspiration, designing a new watch face that sparks joy in the most lighthearted way. Named the Lucky Horse face, the graphic features a horse’s head, with colours that change according to the wearer’s mood and wrist movements.

In particular, at 10:10, the hands form a harness on the horse’s head, and when used in Always-On mode, the face darkens for the horse to give a friendly wink — calling for wearers to rest, a gesture testament to the warmth of the house.

As for the straps, the Gourmette band is reinterpreted with the addition of a bold metal chain (either in silver or black), inspired by equestrian curb link chains. This hand-welded and hand-polished steel chain extends from the leather strap, giving the double tour band a look that is highly assertive, edgy and undoubtedly equestrian.

Meanwhile, the H Diagonal strap is subtly reproduced on a leather band via 1,300 individual and precise perforations, epitomising a sporting spirit and inviting movement. Crafted in Swift calfskin, it is available in Gold and Gris Meyer on the silver stainless-steel case, and in Bleu de France and Cuivre on the Space Black case.

The same Swift calfskin is used for the Apple AirTag Hermès, the symbols of a house, bicycle, or a boat printed on the key ring to  ingeniously conceal the key while making the sight of the pictograms a happy affair. The joie de vivre of this French house remains ever effervescent in its presence, this rendition of craftsmanship meets tech another fun one Hermès and Apple fans are lucky to have.
