Paying homage to Gucci Cruise 2018 collection, slogans like “Guccify Yourself'” and “Guccification” have manifested beyond their ornamental purpose and materialized in a D-I-Y customizable pop-up initiative.
Adapted from the British punk movement in the 1970s — when anyone could be a musician or fashion designer — the idea that you could simply Do It Yourself epitomizes Gucci’s axiom of championing self-expression and individuality.
Launching at Ion Orchard, the dedicated area signals a fresh commitment from the House to tailoring. The pop-up offers an extensive range of customizable men’s tailoring, unisex jackets, classic range of Ace sneakers and handbags. All outerwear including jackets, blazers and coats are fully-canvassed, with several silhouettes suitable for day and evening affairs.
Customers can choose from a wide range of fabrics and buttons, as well as a list of monogram lettering options. One of Gucci’s key feature is the selection of linings, where the Italian label produces a variety of vibrant silk foulard to choose from.
Evening wear holds an important role for Gucci’s D-I-Y initiative, too. Red carpet suits can be customized with your choice of cuff and collar; the pop-up also features a selection of silk printed shirts and a number of knitwear styles, which come in 14-guage cashmere and exclusive fine 21-guage merino wool. Symbols and monograms can be embroidered onto knitwear pieces and shirts, taking the meaning of “best-dressed”to a whole other level.
Gucci’s exclusive pop-up service will take place from 17 Nov to 7 Dec in the Gucci ION store.
