#DGLOVES Sneakers Inspired By Cities’ Icons

  • By Chelsea Tan

There’s a glimmer of light for us in these dark days of designers departing. While our favourite Creative Directors appear to be leaving way too often, the fashion Gods have not neglected us, and send us solace in the form of shoes. This Fall 2016 treats us to Dolce&Gabbana’s new limited capsule edition of London sneakers, dubbed the #DGLOVES sneakers.

As with the current trend for personalisation, we are treated to 10 different designs, of which nine are tailored exclusively for nine cities, and one for the global citizen (i.e. those who fall out of the nine cities covered). Unfortunately for us metropolitan Singaporeans, we fall out of #DGLOVES’ scope of cities, which includes Milano, Paris, Roma, London, New York, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Macau and Beijing. For these cities, each design features a dedicated colour hashtag and city symbol; for example, the Hong Kong version boasts the city skyline with its iconic skyscrapers.

For Singapore fans, however, we get the generic iteration with a globe patch and the hashtag #DGLOVES YOU on the back – and we’ll take it. After all, #MFLOVES sneakers too.

The #DGLOVES sneakers are only available for online order, although there is still a two month wait before their official launch. But Singaporeans are resilient folks; if we’re able to wait for days under the sweltering sun queuing up for our Hello Kitties and H&M collaboration collections, a two month online wait is nothing.
