Born an icon and incarnation of motorsports and speed, the TAG Heuer Monaco needs no further introduction in the realm of luxury watchmaking. After countless iterations over the decades, some more noteworthy than others, TAG Heuer captures the spirit and magic of a late-night drive. Even without the high-octane charge of a midday dash, the newly introduced timepiece delivers the unfettered joy of driving under star-filled skies and lighted billboards across boulevards and avenues.
Dressed in cool tones of anthracite and grey opaline against a matte black case, the TAG Heuer Monaco Chronograph Night Driver evokes nostalgia of past iconic vintage Heuer Monacos. Yet the watch feels equally contemporary, channelling TAG Heuer’s avant-garde ethos with modern-day materials. The black DLC-coated Grade 5 titanium case is more than capable of handling even the tightest of car cockpits with its strength and durability. Within the watch, the amped-up automatic Calibre Heuer 02 chronograph movement hums, offering 80 hours of power reserve.
TAG Heuer has one final trick under the TAG Heuer Monaco Chronograph Night Driver’s sapphire crystal “windshield” hidden in plain sight. As the sun emanates its last rays of warmth during dusk, the light grey sections glow an intense shade of turquoise when darkness takes over. This reverse illumination aids the driver in relaying critical information, such as time telling or checking elapsed times of the chronograph, while driving at night without causing unwanted distractions.
The TAG Heuer Monaco Chronograph Night Driver is limited to 600 pieces worldwide, with its serial number individually engraved on the case back and channels the racing heritage of the TAG Heuer Monaco collection with a “nomad” travel pouch.
