Young Swiss watch brand Norqain strengthens its affinity with the great outdoors with a pair of watches perfect for the balmy summer getaway. Whether taking a dip in the Indian Ocean or strolling along picturesque beaches, Norqain captures the colours of summertime with the Norqain Wild ONE Skeleton.
The latest addition to Norqain’s fledgling lineup continues the storied success of the high-performance Norqain Wild ONE sports watch released in September 2022. While the Norqain Wild ONE ticked all the boxes of a sports watch, the watch’s multi-layer case construction and the brand’s proprietary NORTEQ case material solidified its position as a serious contender in the burgeoning segment.
Norqain Wild ONE from 2022
NORTEQ, a specially developed material exclusively for Norqain, is an exceptionally lightweight and robust material resulting from a close collaboration between NORQAIN, Jean-Claude Biver, and BIWI SA. This advanced material exhibits an impressive marble effect and is constructed using a carbon fibre composite, a commonly employed material in the aerospace sector, along with a high-performance polymer matrix containing 60% bio-sourced material derived from castor oil. Any leftover material from the manufacturing process is fully recycled and upcycled, serving as a noteworthy example of how innovation can contribute to a reduced ecological footprint. Apart from being anti-magnetic, NORTEQ is corrosion-resistant, ensuring its longevity.
Four main components form the Norqain Wild ONE watch case. At the heart of it is a titanium container housing the movement enclosed in a rubber shock absorber unit. It is then sandwiched between two NORTEQ cages for maximum shock resistance. Instead of opting for a serious demeanour, Norqain’s take on the Norqain Wild ONE Skeleton goes in the opposite direction that not many expected, with a vibrant and edgy execution thanks to a pop of colour and a skeletonised dial.
Summer Day Delight
It seems the craze with turquoise watches is not letting up anytime soon, as the Norqain Wild ONE Skeleton Fresh Turquoise is the latest watch to take on the expressive colour. Instead of the usual route of colouring the watch dial, the rubber shock absorber and strap are decked out in turquoise as a reminder of summer days out by the poolside cabana. Whether it is strapped on the wrist while sunbathing or dipping in the pool, the Norqain Wild ONE Skeleton Fresh Turquoise feels equally at home in both circumstances.
Telling time takes a whole different meaning as the skeletonised dial reveals the intricacies of the Norqain Calibre NN08S that takes a leaf from another of Norqain’s recent hot releases, the Norqain Independence Skeleton. At first glance, an almost flower-like dial motif greets viewers, perhaps as a nod to the Swiss outdoors. Accents of turquoise punctuate the dial, adding visual interest to the predominantly silver and black appearance.
Summer Sunset
If the Norqain Wild ONE Skeleton Fresh Turquoise embodies moments out in the summer sun, then the Norqain Wild ONE Skeleton Burgundy is the ideal foil for times when the sun sets. Inspired by the colour that sold out immediately after the initial Wild ONE launch in 2022, the wine hue makes a reappearance, this time in a 300-piece limited edition release. Norqain again demonstrates its prowess as the first brand to offer mass-dyed carbon fibre composite cases in any vivid colour. The Norqain Wild ONE Skeleton Burgundy features red-gold-plated indexes and hands and is engraved with “LIMITED EDITION – ONE OF 300” on the case back.
