Omega’s Speedmaster Moonwatch Shines In Blanc

  • By Asaph Low

Omega’s Speedmaster Moonwatch is now available with a white dial.

In the 67 years of the Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch’s existence, a white dial variant— sans special editions — never existed until now. Black was the dial’s choice colour for legibility reasons and its association with seriousness, but Omega proves that white can shine on equal footing to its dark counterparts. Much of the standard Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch’s blueprint remains, with the biggest change being the white lacquered step dial. Inky black elements juxtapose against a glossy light backdrop, ensuring legibility or readability is not compromised for style.

Other intricate details peppering the watch are Easter eggs for Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch aficionados to discover. The red Speedmaster text is a nod to the special Alaska project edition and the NASA commander’s rank seen on the suits of the Apollo 13 mission. Omega’s much-coveted “Dot over Ninety”also makes an appearance on the tachymeter scale bezel. Within the watch lies the Omega Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 3861— Omega’s most up-to-date version of the legendary Calibre 321 — ensuring the best-in-class timekeeping performance.
