Founded in 2005, the Longines Master Collection was built on Longines’ rich history that dates back to 1832. Close to 190 years of watchmaking acumen and tradition culminates within the budding Longines Master Collection that has grown to be a symbol of elegance and excellence and is one of the instantly recognisable watches of Longines.
Stylistically, the Longines Master Collection brings together sophistication and classic executions, all fitted with automatic movements that attest to Longines’ heritage. Yet it does not feel old as contemporary touches add a youthful exuberance to the Longines Master Collection that is merely 16 years young.
Within the Longines Master Collection lies a range of pieces characterised by various complication offerings which include chronograph functions, an indication of time in all 24 time zones worldwide, power-reserve indicator, phases of the moon or retrograde functions alongside the regular three-handed version. Diameters are assorted as well ranging from 38.5mm, 40mm, 41mm, 42mm and 44mm to cater to different wrist sizes.
The Longines Master Collection with chronograph and full calendar is the crème de la crème of the series with its multi-complication execution. A barleycorn guilloché pattern dial forms the backdrop of the watch, playing on traditional watchmaking codes of Longines. Stylised oversized Arabic numerals lend a contemporary vibe to the watch which is further reinforced by the modernised 42mm diameter.
Longines’ automatic L687 is the brain behind the complications. The full calendar indicates the day and month in the top two apertures, a half-moon central hand points to the peripheral date display, the small seconds with 24 hours indicator is positioned at 9 o’clock and a moon phase display is housed at 6 o’clock. The column-wheel chronograph features a central 60 seconds hand, a 30 minutes counter at 12 o’clock and 12 hours counter at 6 o’clock.
