Bvlgari Unveils the Bvlgari Octo Finissimo CarbonGoldBvlgari’s technical and aesthetical marvel, the Bvlgari Octo Finissimo, takes an unconventional spin this autumn with the Bvlgari Octo Finissimo CarbonGold. Following the successful manipulation of titanium, platinum, rose and yellow gold, ceramic and tantalum in previous iterations, the Roman jeweller pushes the boundaries of the collection with its latest proponent in a fusion of carbon and gold.

Bvlgari Unveils the Bvlgari Octo Finissimo CarbonGoldBvlgari took the world by storm in 2014 when it unveiled the first Bvlgari Octo Finissimos, the Bvlgari Octo Finissimo Tourbillon, measuring a mere 5mm thin. Since then, the collection has expanded into other complications and redefined the realm of ultra-thin watchmaking while raking in eight world records over the years to come. This year’s creations, headlined by the Bvlgari Octo Finissimo CarbonGold Perpetual Calendar and Bvlgari Octo Finissimo CarbonGold Automatic, see the cutting-edge nature of carbon harmonise with the preciousness of gold. The material combination is no stranger to Bvlgari, having worked with it in 1993. This fusion of technical prowess and opulence breathes fresh life to the original Bvlgari Octo Finissimo Automatic and Bvlgari Octo Finissimo Perpetual Calendar, both of which have previously set records in 2017 and 2021, respectively.

Apart from the ultra-thin designs of the Bvlgari Octo Finissimo, the collection’s claim to fame is earmarked by its multifaceted (110 facets) case and integrated bracelet designs. At first glance, the distinct anthracite striations of the carbon case come to the fore, extending from the case to the bracelet and even the dial. An air of modernity emanates from the case, compounded by the brutalist form of the watch while glints of gold elements on the solid rose gold crown and coloured hands and indices sparkle amongst the matte, brooding backdrop.

Bvlgari Unveils the Bvlgari Octo Finissimo CarbonGoldAmongst the pair of novelties released, the 7.6mm thick Bvlgari Octo Finissimo CarbonGold Perpetual Calendar stands out for its horological complexity. The watch flaunts the calibre BVL 305 from the 2021 award-winning piece that bagged the coveted Grand prix d’horlogerie de Genève Aiguille d’Or prize and set the Maison’s 7th record for slimness. Measuring 2.75mm, the movement automatically accounts for the day differences of the various months, including leap years. A retrograde date indicator arcs across the top half of the dial while the day of the week, months and leap year are positioned on the bottom half. On the other hand, the Bvlgari Octo Finissimo CarbonGold Automatic is the purest distillation of the Bvlgari Octo Finissimo’s essence that boldly redefines the rules of modern horology. The 2.23mm thick automatic Calibre BVL 138, powered by a platinum micro-rotor, hums within the 6.9mm slim watch.
