Louis Vuitton opens renovated store at Ngee Ann City, Singapore

  • By Shelton Chang

It has been 20 years since the opening of the Louis Vuitton Ngee Ann City store in 1996, and what better way for the Maison to celebrate its 20th anniversary than with a grand refurbishment of the existing store in Singapore.

Drawing inspiration from the latest Louis Vuitton store concepts, the global store makes use of natural light and the finest materials such as cerused oak with gold leaf, natural stone floors and hand knotted carpets from Nepal. Furniture made in the most luxurious materials, designed by Paul Evans and Hélène de Saint Lager, were also selected to furnish the store. Specially curated original art pieces by Farhad Moshiri, Michael Brunn, Lonneke Gordijn and Ralph Nauta were weaved into the exquisite aesthetic of the store.

The exterior facade showcases top and bottom lit glass portions, reinterpreting the iconic Monogram Flower pattern in a new copper metal signature with a subtle and delicate fading effect. The facades are based on a mixed use of stone, glass and metal. The interior shopfronts have been redesigned to enhance the continuity of a visitor’s journey from the moment one is outside looking, to when they enter the brand’s universe.

The area dedicated to gents reveals a display of leather goods, travel bags, accessories and fragrances. A symbolic ribbon staircase is anchored in the centre of the store that leads up to the second floor, meets a floating art installation, titled Flylight by Lonneke Gordijn and Ralph Nauta that interacts with the visitors. If you happen to be in town, head on down and witness the splendour of the new Louis Vuitton store at Ngee Ann City.
