MFW SS24: For SS24, Versace is Daringly Darling

  • By Vanessa Grace Ng

Modern mod was the cue for Versace’s SS24 collection.

From pastel checkerboard and candy-hued boucle sets to crystallised denim jackets, Donatella Versace seemed to take a page out of Miuccia Prada’s book — embracing the Italian genesis of the 1960s’ mod.

Lace, silk and good-girl embellishments were abundant, but the house still retained its roots. Sultry and seductive looks materialised in sharp suits and low/cowl-neck pieces, finished, of course, with the hardware of its emblematic Medusa motif. If prettiness was prioritised for the season, then naturally, so were the models. The clothes were great, but the string of it-girls (the show was opened by a KarJenner and closed by Claudia Schiffer; and supported by the heavyweight appearances of Liu Wen, Imaan Hammam, Gigi Hadid and Iris Law) and boys that traipsed down the runway were the ones that really sold the Italian Dream.

Aspirational, charming and really, really sweet — the collection felt right at home for the first time in a while. If this is what it means to Donatella VERSACE 💜, best believe we’ll be coming back for more.
