What does the modern day family gathering look like? That’s the question at the heart of Gucci’s latest campaign The Gathering; and in response, Gucci highlights the diverse expressions that connection, relationships, and style can take within the current age.
Featuring looks from Gucci’s La Famiglia collection, this campaign rejects modern day minimalism and conformity in favour of bold, individualistic expression. The clothes are “unapologetically sexy, extravagant, and daring” — not your typical family function attire. Yet, despite the bold range of characters, styles, and silhouettes, Gucci finds cohesion, not chaos, through a shared sense of belonging.
In the campaign photos, a stylish ensemble of models pose in beautiful rooms filled with antique furniture, chairs to lounge in, and the heart of every house — the dining table. Featured in this cast are Gucci Ambassadors: Song Wei Long, Ni Ni, and married power couple Davika Hoorne and Chantavit Dhanasevi.
Solo shots show off each person’s unique character and visual style similar to the character personas depicted in the La Famiglia campaign. In this collection, Creative Director Demna brings modernity to the visual and archival codes from across the House’s different generations. It’s a vision that is as refreshing as it is signature.
Sexy black leather gloves and jackets, loud colours contrasted with neutrals, and iconic 60s silhouettes paired next to modern suit tailoring — these pieces shouldn’t work in theory, but it does.
Every person and piece possesses a unique presence and the House’s signature Italian attitude. However, standing out doesn’t mean you can’t also fit in. Gathered around a shared table, the different generations of fashion and people share tender moments of togetherness, storytelling, and understanding.
Beauty isn’t only in the garments, Gucci also presents the beauty of spending time with those who make your memories meaningful. Consequently, this ongoing thematic exploration of human connection and fashion in relation to modernity is what makes Gucci and its campaigns stand the test of time.
