Bottega Veneta launches the Tom Sawyer, a mega contender in the maxi class of bags, even for the house.

Matthieu Blazy has always been one to follow the “go big or go home” mentality. For Winter 2024, the creative director is scaling a path of his own design by going even more maximal. In his menswear vision, the impetus once again finds itself in bags that lean even softer, even slouchier, and even more extensive in their profiles.

Meet Tom Sawyer — yes, that’s its name — a mammoth contender in Bottega Veneta’s Big Bag category, and one that holds enough potential in its make to rival its physical form.

A new style for the house’s menswear line, Tom Sawyer takes on the as-new Silky Calf finish but brings back the “something old”s in the form of Bottega Veneta’s emblematic knot (as seen on the perennially popular women’s Jodie). And it does not end at the knot. An addition of “V”-shaped hardware acts symbolic of Bottega Veneta’s atelier origins in Italy’s Vicenza, Veneto, to once again bind and bridge Blazy’s future-looking visions, the past and the present with an accessory that is guaranteed a time-defiant spot on one’s rob-list.
