Dior unveils an exclusive capsule Dior & Otani Workshop, dreamed up by Kim Jones in collaboration with the Japanese artist of the same name.
While not necessarily an ode to the Year of the Dragon, Dior’s latest capsule collection with Japanese artist Otani Workshop could not have come at a more apt time. A small green dragon-looking monster conceived by the contemporary artist refreshes the men’s collection with a new palette, brimming with joy and an infectiously curious energy.
Named Tanilla after sculptor Otani, this irresistible creature simply sits as an oversized version on refined sweaters, while subtly unfurling on short-sleeved T-shirts or bombers — evoking the smart-casual spirit of the Dior Spring 2024 line and the new tennis shoes B33 High Top.
The bewitching motif of Tanilla also appears on a denim overshirt, as well as on the iconic Dior Oblique toile – in vibrant shades of burgundy and pink – a reference of the house, adorning elegant knitwear.
As a final surprise, the symbol is emblazoned on a stylised adaptation of the “Dior” logo, embellishing hooded sweatshirts and pouches with functional shoulder straps. A patch revealing the signature “Christian Dior Couture” also dresses a range of models, including baggy pants.
All of these pieces are enhanced with a palette dominated by red, a colour dear to Monsieur Dior, who sees it as “the colour of life” in his petit dictionnaire de la mode. Red truly is the colour of new beginnings too, a perfect way for the high fashion house and dedicated fans to ring in the Lunar New Year.
