Every week, the Men’s Folio Team shares the latest tech items that they desire, not limiting to whether these gadgets will actually end up in their possession. This week, it’s all about tech for travel.
Thanks to technology, travelling can really be such a breeze. That means efficiency, accessibility and not needing to drastically change one’s routines and habits just for a short span of time. Our contemporary lifestyle is more reliant on technology than any other, and the support of innovation has allowed that to go further and enhance new experiences — it’s not too far-fetched to say we are all living at the mercy of electricity.
So to help all those who are finally taking a well-deserved overseas break as the year comes to a close, see here the Men’s Folio team’s picks on the most coveted tech items we will bring along for travel.
Asaph Low, Managing Editor: Ember Temperature Control Travel Mug 2
The Ember Travel Mug keeps your choice of beverage hot with its precise temperature control. A leakproof, slide lock design keeps unnecessary spills at bay should there be a bump or two on the road.
Bryan Goh, Deputy Editor: Muji Portable Aroma Diffuser
I’m a certified freak seven days a week because sleeping in a room that isn’t mine and not having it smell like mine makes me shriek. If you’re wondering, I use two drops of lavender, one drop of ylang-ylang, and one drop of moringa orange.
Izwan Abdullah, Associate Creative Director: Torras Coolify 2 Neck Air Conditioner
The Torras Coolify 2 Neck Air Conditioner is a game-changer. Because it looks like a pair of trendy headphones, you probably wouldn’t get weird stares wearing it at the airport.
Manfred Lu, Senior Fashion Stylist and Writer: PANASONIC Portable Washlet Toilette Bidet Battery Operated
Never attempt to travel without a portable bidet. Sure, it might not be the most essential item you might need to add to your packing list, but leaving one in your luggage could really save your life in a situation where you’re stuck with 1-ply toilet paper. This electronic, battery-operated portable bidet makes things really easy too — it’s like one of those Japanese automatic bidet seats, just portable.
Charmaine Tan, Senior Digital Writer: Anker Powercore 20100 Power Bank
Safe to say that this is essential for travelling now when nearly half our life is lived online. This one has a capacity of 20,100mAh — that’s charging the iPhone 8 almost seven times, the Galaxy S8 five times or the iPad mini 4 twice. I’d say this is very worth the slight bulk in size.
