Sorn is Back With "Scorpio"
A former member of South Korean girl group CLC, a true Instagram baddie, and now, a comeback queen with her single titled “Scorpion”, here, Sorn takes us through her latest single “Scorpio”. Plug in, press play, and continue reading below.

Hi Sorn, how’s it going?
It’s been good! I’ve been super busy preparing for the release of ’Scorpio’! And also at the same time planning my next single release!

Since you’ve been in the scene for 11 years, what do you think has been the biggest change for you as an artiste?
I think the biggest change for me is that I learned to become more comfortable with myself throughout the year. I was lacking confidence for a while with my music but now I feel like I know myself better and I’m more comfortable with showing who I am as an artist to my listeners even more.

What about the industry then? What do you think is different and how do you see yourself adapting to these changes?
I think that the music industry has changed a lot throughout the years. There are now so many different ways you can promote a song and so many songs are being released on a daily basis for listeners to listen to. This means higher competition for artists and since people’s attention span has been decreasing throughout the year due to social media, it makes it way harder for artists to keep up with the trend and also have to constantly be thinking about music to put out more often.

This gives us less time to really concentrate on the art which can lead to a lot of artists feeling burnt out trying to constantly put out music for listeners.

How did you come up with the name “Scorpio”? Do you believe in horoscopes?
I wanted to make a song that is super personal to me so I asked my producers if we can make a song that has the Scorpio theme. I thought that the concept itself is really cool and strong and also I am already a big believer in horoscopes too. I believe that horoscopes do have a lot of truth when it comes to someone’s personality.

Would you say it’s different from your other songs? I’m assuming it could be your next direction.
I really want to experiment and try a lot of different styles of songs this year. I feel like as an artist my vocal range is pretty wide so that’s why I’m taking this opportunity to try out different styles of songs and that is why ‘Run’ is really different from ‘Sharp Objects’ and also ‘Scorpio’ is very different from other songs too.

What is your favourite lyric then from “Scorpio”? How does it resonate with you?
My favourite lyric for this song is, “Shattered diamonds are still flawless”. I really like this line because this sentence basically talks about my journey as an artist over the past 10 years. Even though I’m not perfect, I’m still worth it and I am trying my best to be a better version of myself.

I feel like this message is really important because there are a lot of times when we feel like we’re not enough and we often compare ourselves to other people that we forget that we should love who we are and me, myself is enough. I want this sentence to be a daily reminder for my listeners who listen to Scorpio!

What’s next for you then after “Scorpio” and perhaps, are you planning to do an EP titled Sorn?
My team and I are working really hard to constantly push out as much music as possible this year! By the end of the year, I hope to have enough songs to create an EP and go on tours to meet my listeners from all around the world! We’re working super hard on everything so I want my listeners to have patience and have faith in me.

Lastly, out of curiosity, do you know your #1 most played song on your Spotify listening list last year?
The number one song would have to be CLC’s — Helicopter. I think that I was trying to help boost the streams for Helicopter and at one point I had it on repeat so many times and it became the most played song on my Spotify list.

I even secretly joined in a lot of CLC’s fans streaming party that was held during our promotion time, haha!
