First things first: the run down about rum. Its name comes from various sources with some saying it originated from the Caribbean in the 1600s while some say it’s the shortened version of the Latin word for sugar, saccharum. Next, it promotes heart health because it is a blood thinner. In short, it increases good cholesterol and combats artery blockages.

Now that you’re armed with two pieces of trivia (trust us, it’ll help when you’re standing in line at Rum Bellion), go forth and try over 30 brands and 60 expressions of the nectar come 5th June.

Rum Bellion however, will feature local bars like Sugarhall, Low Tide, Sago House, Lime House Caribbean, Origin, and The Bar at 15 Stamford (hint, that’s the order of which booth to visit) who will be joined by Dirty Dick, a Parisian tiki bar on their first visit to Singapore. Other bars, including Jungle Bird from Kuala Lumpur, Manilla’s Buccaneers Rum & Kitchen, A/A Bar from Jakarta, and Bangkok’s House of Sathorn and Teens of Thailand will be making a pit stop too.

Heart of Darkness will also be brewing special edition beers inspired by classic rum cocktails; double fisting is recommended. Make your version of Dark ‘n’ Stormy.

126 bottles of a 22-year-old limited-edition Plantation Single Cask 2021 Jamaica 1998 will be available too for purchase at Rum Bellion: a rumbullion distilled in 1998 at Jamaica’s Long Pond Distillery, aged for 20 years in bourbon casks, and finished in a mixture of Ferrand and Bardstown Fusion Series bourbon casks.

Or if you just want a good time or as they call it, go on a bender, bartenders from overseas will be hosting takeovers starting from this Friday: Dirty Dick making magic at The Kongsee this Friday, while A/A Bar, Buccaneers, Jungle Bird, House of Sathorn and Teens of Thailand will be mixing it up at Origin, Sugarhall, The Kongsee, Lime House and Low Tide respectively on Saturday.
