Pernod Ricard and ecoSPIRITS Pilot New Circular Distribution Program For Spirits

Pernod Ricard and ecoSPIRITS Pilot New Circular Distribution Program For SpiritsPernod Ricard and ecoSPIRITS’ launch first pilot program for circular distribution of spirits in Singapore.

Tackling the big issue that is climate change doesn’t mean only doing it during the serious moments. With nightlife back in full swing, the amount of glass waste produced is up on the rise again. While glass is recyclable, a local study showed that less than 13% of that glass is actually recycled, with the rest being sent to landfills. If that is not concerning to you, well, it should be.

In an unprecedented move for the global brand, Pernod Ricard is partnering up with ecoSPIRITS to reduce glass waste and up to 60% of carbon emissions through the use of ecoTOTES — reusable vessels that have a capacity of 4.5l — which helps to eliminate packaging waste during spirit distribution. Singapore has been chosen as the launch city.

The vessels will be filled with Absolut Vodka, followed by Beefeater London Dry Gin and Havana Club, and sent to a target of 30 bar partners here. Once empty, the ecoTOTE will be returned to a Singapore-based ecoPLANT, where it is sanitized and refilled, in line with quality standards of leading international distilleries.

Through the ecoSPIRITS Forest Program, one tree will also be planted for each cycle of an ecoTOTE used by bar partners, with an estimate of 1,440 trees planted as part of this program.

Three of Asia’s best bars in Singapore will be among the first to receive Pernod Ricard’s premium spirits in the patent-pending ecoTOTE format. Guests at the award-winning MO Bar, Republic Bar Singapore, and Smoke & Mirrors can look forward to inventive, sustainable cocktails available on their usual and shadow menus, including specially crafted from spirits distributed via the ecoTOTE.

Pernod Ricard and ecoSPIRITS Pilot New Circular Distribution Program For SpiritsMO Bar will be presenting Journey, using Beefeater London Dry Gin, dehydrated citrus tea and spices, to emulate the early travels of traders in Asia, spicing up the classic G&T in a sustainable way. On the other hand, Smoke & Mirrors’ Lacquer-tini draws inspiration from the lacquer-style painting of Nguyen Gia Tri’s The Landscape of Vietnam, combining Havana Club 3 Rum, jasmine verte, acid and sugar to puncture botanical notes with the shelf stable citric acid.

Pernod Ricard and ecoSPIRITS Pilot New Circular Distribution Program For SpiritsWith the highest density of the world’s best bars in Asia, Singapore is set to become a good example of how a good drink can also be a step towards a more sustainable and responsible future. It’s the little things we do that add up, this looks like a good start changing how drinks are being made — feel good, drink good, right?
