Pan Pacific Orchard Is Orchard’s New Beacon of Green

  • By Charmaine Tan

Pan Pacific Orchard proposes a new wellness-driven concept for stays right in the heart of Singapore’s main shopping district.

These days, the demand for hotels has never been higher. It’s also a specific kind of concept that’s sought after too — one that is green in look, green in construction, and green in identity. Pan Pacific Orchard is a hotel that checks all those boxes; the 23-storey high-rise is the latest green development to arrive in the Orchard Road district, its dramatic terraced greenery a welcome sight amidst the concrete blocks.

Unlike most green hospitality concepts, Pan Pacific Orchard has had nature architecturally integrated into its four high-volume terraced environments; developed by UOL and designed by WOHA Architects, the new prototype for high-rise tropical hospitality brims with 14,000sqm of foliage and water features, a high-ceiling open-air lobby and energy-saving features like rainwater collection, solar panel technology and a bio-digester system.

Themed and named Forest, Beach, Garden and Cloud, each of the terraces are uniquely landscaped. Reflective mirror ceilings distinguish the spaces with a bird’s eye view of the sparkling pools of Beach Terrace from the manicured lawns of Garden Terrace, while open-air spaces welcome abundant fresh breeze and natural daylight for exquisite alfresco experiences in the Forest and Cloud terraces. The blocks are then strung together by 120m green columns that tower through, creating a spectacle of thriving flora within the interior of the space.

Comfort is, however, an undeniable focus in each of the 347 rooms and suites specially curated for relaxation. Beds with 400-thread count cotton beddings and bath amenities by French house Diptyque ensure the element of luxury, even while guests are encouraged to adopt sustainable practices with in-room filtered water dispensers; reusable bottles made with ocean-bound material will also be available in the room.

But the ultimate move to embracing the urban R&R comes in the form of Pan Pacific Hotels and Resorts’ therapeutic Happy Sleepers programme, which boasts thoughtful sleep-boosting amenities and activities starting with a pillow menu for all sleeping styles, but also including in-room meditation and yoga, curated dining options and even luxury bath products in the future. This will be exclusively available in the hotel’s suites, Pacific Club Room and to Pan Pacific DISCOVERY members.
