#MFMF123: Mun Kong's Melodic Musings For The Everyday

Instead of featuring just the Men’s Folio team’s weekly playlists (you can catch up here), however, we’ve opened up the column to friends, industry mates, and people who we think have the right groove.

This week, we tap on frequent collaborator and photographer Mun Kong to share with us his daily playlist of long-time favourites, boogie beats and recent musical discoveries from Yussef Kamaal, Elektone, Outkast and more.

Strings of Light — Yussef Kamaal

Something to start the day with. I’ve always loved both of them as individuals and this is the only album by them as a duo before they broke up sadly.

Consolation Prize — Flying Lotus

Taking things up a notch with a track by fly lo, continuing the spontaneity and flow which sets the tone.

Love Is — Prequel, Cazeaux O.S.L.O

Badass track and its always about the experience whenever I listen to one of Prequel’s tracks. I hope he gets more worldwide attention!

Only You — Steve Monite

Something to groove and sing to because why not.

The Girl from Katong — Elektone

The original track is one of my favourites but this mix takes you on a different journey.

SpottieOttieDopaliscious — Outkast

So layered and so much depth. The percussion, the baseline, the horns on this track are nuts! It’s a vibe!

Bam Bam — Sister Nancy

Everybody needs some reggae in their lives. One of my all time fav classics and it always puts a smile on my face.
