Dyson introduces the Dyson OnTrac™ — its first audio-only, high-fidelity headphones.
At this rate, the tech powerhouse is on track to takeover all sectors of lifestyle, especially since they dropped the title Dyson Hair in favour of Dyson Beauty last year. When Dyson came up with the Dyson Zone, they probably didn’t know how deep they were going into the world of sound. Granted, it is also the manipulation of air, but it’s a whole other ball game with a completely different set of competitors to note; luckily for them, Dyson’s actually pretty good with sound too.
Introducing — the Dyson OnTrac™. Performance-wise, the high-fidelity headphones offer best-in-class noice cancellation (with a custom Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) algorithm that uses 8 microphones), promising up to 55 hours of immersive listening — a one-time charge for an impressive 2 weeks of use. You can also toggle between three custom EQ modes — Bass Boost, Neutral and Enhanced — when connected to the MyDyson™ app, which can also be used to track whether the in-ear and external volume are operating at healthy levels.
There is also an enhanced sound range feature that allows the headphones to produce frequencies from as low as 6 Hz to as high as 21 kHz (the average range of human hearing is 20 Hz to 20 kHz); allowing you to physically feel the deep sub-bass and clear highs at the upper end of the frequency range.
And then we have its unmissable modular and customisable design — aesthetics evidently still a big focus in Dyson’s innovation and reason why its products are all so loved. The Dyson OnTrac™ comes in four colour ways — CNC Aluminium, Copper, Black Nickel and Ceramic Cinnabar — the last a special variant that has a ceramic-feel painted finish. On top of this, users will also get to play with 7 outer caps of high-grade aluminium, durable and lightweight in multiple colours and finishes (ceramic or anodised) — nothing but sleek and chic coming from this tech giant.
Even the ear cushions come in 7 different colours to choose from, the ultra-soft microfibre and high-grade foam that is both comfortable for long-wear and provides the best acoustic seal a delight to personalise with. The weight of the uniquely positioned battery in the headband is also evenly distributed during wear via multi-pivot gimbal arms, so you are less likely to get that “headphone headache” that comes with most of the like.
Some of the additional goodies that Dyson has blessed the Dyson OnTrac™ with includes a head detect function — audio automatically pauses and plays when the earcups have been removed or worn — as well as an intuitive joystick on the headphones to execute simple commands without reaching for your connected device. All in all, this is not just an exciting new step in the wearables department, but also a dazzling display of how far Dyson’s research has gone on in the acoustics and psychoacoustics department. Only more exciting updates to come from here.
The Dyson OnTrac™ headphones will be available in Singapore in either September or October 2024 for SGD 699. Head over here to be notified when it is available, then head over here to learn more about Dyson and its latest releases.
