Since opening his first store at Far East Plaza some eight years ago, Chen has been credited for invigorating Singapore’s then hundrum retail scene with much-needed pizzazz. He has also ventured across the region, opening the first Salon by Surrender store in Shanghai in December last year – which former MediaCorp actress, Fiona Xie now manages – as well as a pop-up Surrender store in Jakarta this January, whihc has now become a permanent fizture due to to its success.
