Moncler X FRGMT Continues Their Love Affair With Latest CollectionHiroshi Fujiwara, one of Moncler Genius’s longest-running collaborators, returns with a collection based on the ideas of love.

With technology, finding love has exponentially been made easier. From perusing social media platforms to swiping on dating apps, the human desire for connection has resulted in varying degrees of creations. Under Moncler Genius collaborative platform, Moncler x FRGMT returns with a collection that is rooted in adoration and a campaign that enlisted the help of a robot to assist in the search for connection.

For this reunion, the godfather of street and founder of FRGMT, Hiroshi Fujiwara has designed a collection paying homage to the history and his love for Moncler. Pulling inspiration from the brand’s archive, specifically a postcard that was sent to Moncler thanking him for outfitting an expedition crew with high-performance garments in 1974, he designed pieces that referenced the house’s functional codes into an array of gender-neutral and transitional pieces.

Moncler X FRGMT Continues Their Love Affair With Latest CollectionWhile deceptively simple, Fujiwara’s designs are actually full of hidden surprises. Take for example the varsity jacket, that has been a staple piece in his designs since the 80s and has been produced in limited quantities; with each jacket featuring a serial number to cater to Gen Zs penchant for unique pieces. Additionally, Moncler’s iconic puffers have been swarmed with houndstooth in Fujiwara’s favourite palette of black and white and in juxtaposing textures of matte and shiny, the overall collection is then accented with vibrant punches of yellow and turquoise.

While the campaign titled ‘Love is Human,’ features global brand ambassador and long time friend of both brands — K-pop idol Hwang Minhyun, shot in his home country of South Korea. Lensed by Tokyo-based photographer and director Xavier Tera, the campaign was shot through the perspective of a LOVOT — an endearing and affectionate robot that was designed to provide unconditional love to humans.

Keeping with the theme of love and connection, the LOVOT  became a point of intrigued and conversation for Minhyun and other’s around him as it roamed around the city of Seoul. While the robot’s main purpose is to be a companion for humans, it also manages to foster connections between humans, leveraging from their genuine curiosity for the tiny being.

As humans continue to ride the rollercoaster of emotions that comes with love — a robot that provides round-the-clock comfort does not sound as unhinge as it would be maybe a decade ago. But if you are not of the same belief, then maybe just stick to shopping, that usually works for me.
