Every week, we delve deep into the Dropbox or Google Drive folders sent by brands (or as they call it, a Press Folder) to find something unexpected, desirable and a little bit off-brand. Here we have KOSE’s haircare line, Stephen Knoll New York.
For those familiar with the brand KOSÉ, you will know that they specialise in beauty and skin care, particularly in suncare. Lesser know of their haircare brand, Stephen Knoll New York, which combines the technology cultivated by KOSÉ cosmetics with the expertise of top hairstylist Stephen Knoll — a behind-the-scenes staple presence of New York’s beauty industry.
That’s essentially combining the science of Japanese grooming products with the style and know-how of the New York beauty scene.
Just launched in Singapore this year, Stephen Knoll New York presents products that bring the salon experience to the home. In particular, their newly formulated In-Bath series — was brought in as a response to the increasing trend of bleached heads and the use of styling tools.
On top of their usual Moisture, Colour and Form & Control lines are also available, the In-Bath series debuts a new Repair & Control line. This focuses on strengthening damaged hair, leaving the hair moist and supple through a shampoo, conditioner and a hair pack. Their Scalp Care System series is also a good pick; with the main aim of removing dirt from the hair and scalp without stripping both of moisture.
There is also a Moisture & Damage Repair Mask that fixes colour, perm, and daily heat damage from the inside of the hair, formulated with “highly permeable capsules” containing truffle extract, amino acids, ceramide, and cholesterol. This is to maintain the moisture balance, leaving it soft, smooth and supple.
For their Out-Bath series or styling products, the Madison Ave. & 58th collection brings emulsion base sprays (both airy and shine finish types), a matte textured wax, natural finish balm and a good-for-touch-ups multi-stick balm to our sunny shores. Be it a malleable hold or a strong fix, their styling products are easy to use, and will give the same outcome as a professional would, even if you aren’t too used to styling ‘dos.
But one thing’s for sure — the Japanese always put quality first, so it’s safe to expect the most with a brand like Stephan Knoll New York.
