Speed Unites Breitling and the Aston Martin Aramco Formula One™ Team Partnership

Breitling tightens its grip on elite sport further after joining Aston Martin Aramco Formula One™ Team as their Official Watch Partner for the new Formula 1 season.

Momentum in sport is earned. Within six months, Breitling made its intentions unmistakably clear through its forays into the ultra-competitive field of sports. Last August, Breitling announced its partnership with the NFL as the Official Timepiece Partner, which signalled a deeper commitment to the world’s most competitive arenas. This spring, the Swiss watchmaker tightens its grip on elite sport further after joining Aston Martin Aramco Formula One™ Team as their Official Watch Partner just as the new Formula 1 season peaks on the horizon.

For a Swiss watchmaker steeped in timing speed, the appointment aligns Breitling’s chronometric authority with Aston Martin Aramco Formula One™’s razor-edge precision. Crucially, the appointment encompasses the entire Aston Martin universe, spanning its high-performance vehicles handcrafted in Gaydon and St Athan to the team’s pursuit of glory in Formula 1. Beyond that, it is a further testament to the calculated steps as Breitling’s modern resurgence is defined by strategic and culturally resonant partnerships.

“Aston Martin builds cars that are as much about presence as performance,” says Georges Kern, CEO of Breitling. “We share that same heritage of iconic design: every line, finish, and proportion has purpose. Nothing is left to chance.”

“Our pursuit of a World Championship demands partners who match our ambition,” says Lawrence Stroll, Executive Chairman of Aston Martin and the Aston Martin Aramco Formula One™ Team. “Today, we’re proud to welcome Breitling to the team. Beyond a shared heritage, we are united by values that drive everything we do. The precision, craftsmanship, and engineering excellence we pursue at Aston Martin Aramco are lived and breathed by Breitling. We look forward to working together.”

United by Speed

The most successful collaborations are built on synergistic foundations and values, not by slapping each other’s brand logos on a product. Speed and cultural crossroads unite Breitling and Aston Martin Aramco. More than a century ago, Leon Breitling pioneered the Vitesse (French for speed) stopwatch capable of measuring speeds up to 250 miles or kilometres per hour in 1907. A few years later, in 1913, Aston Martin was founded and later made its Formula 1 debut in 1959. Due to the rigours of the sport, racers such as Graham Hill and Jim Clark, who both piloted aircraft on the sides, were wearing Breitling’s purpose-made cockpit instrument, the Navitimer.

By the 1960s, a Willy Breitling masterstroke, the Top Time chronograph, appeared on James Bond’s wrist, portrayed by Sean Connery in Thunderball. Call it luck or coincidence if you will; Aston Martin’s iconic DB5 was Bond’s ride in the film, which captured the era’s cultural fascination.

“It’s Light Out, And Away We Go!”

With days to go from flagging off the maiden race at Albert Park Circuit, the first co-branded timepiece of the partnership puts the Breitling Navitimer back in the world of racing. Ultralight titanium and carbon fibre, materials critical in a Formula 1 car, are engineered as components of the 1,959-piece limited edition Navitimer B01 Chronograph 43 Aston Martin Aramco Formula One™ Team.

The former is being used as the watch’s case, marking a first for the Navitimer, while the latter frames the dial with accents of Aston Martin Racing Green and lime accents drawn from the Aston Martin Aramco livery. The classic circle slide rule reprises its appearance on the watch and is powered by the COSC-certified Breitling Manufacture Calibre 01, offering a 70-hour power reserve. Flipping the watch over reveals the custom matte-black PVD-coated tungsten rotor with Aston Martin Formula One™ Team logo. Other engravings for the limited edition timepiece include “One of 1959” and the phrase “Instruments for Drivers.”

With Adrian Newey’s maiden Aston Martin-designed AM26 primed for a competitive season ahead, Breitling’s logo and presence will feature prominently on the car’s halo and team kit, including the racing glove.

As the lights prepare to go out at Albert Park, Breitling and Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team begin a partnership rooted in shared obsession where precision is performance and timing is everything. From the wrist to the racetrack, the collaboration is a declaration of intent at the highest level of sport. In a world measured by thousandths of a second, Breitling is exactly where it belongs.
