There are watches for formal occasions, watches for scuba dives, watches for measuring time, some reserved for extra special occasions, and the list goes on. What about a watch suitable for everyday wear, the kind that has a little of everything from the categories mentioned earlier, can handle the rigours of everyday wear and go from day to night without looking out of place. Before going into it, this is how we define what an everyday watch is:
- Water Resistance of 50m minimally
- Diameter of 42mm maximum
- Legible
- Useful complications, if any
Rolex Oyster Perpetual Land-Dweller
The quintessential king of everyday wear is joined by its latest jewel in the crown, the Oyster Perpetual Land-Dweller. This year’s big release sees the integrated steel sports watch added into Rolex’s repertoire, and checks all of our criteria with its 40mm diameter, 100m water-resistant case and highly legible honeycomb dial. Beyond its aesthetics, the watch is backed by the high-frequency calibre 7135 and its revolutionary Dynapulse escapement.
Tudor Black Bay Pro
Any of Tudor’s watches can easily make this list, but we give our vote to this year’s iteration of the Tudor Black Bay Pro. The white or “Polar” colourway and its pop of yellow brighten and lend a cheery disposition to an otherwise serious timepiece. The Tudor Black Bay Pro fulfils all of our criteria with a 200m water-resistant case and a GMT complication that people actually use.
Longines Conquest Heritage
This is one of those watches that errs towards the formal watch category, but hear us out — the Longines Conquest Heritage was intended as the watchmaker’s sports elegant collection. Its movement, the Longines Calibre L888, features a monocrystalline silicon balance-spring that is impervious to magnetism (looking at you, MagSafe). With a power reserve extended up to 72 hours, a stainless bracelet, and a highly legible green sunray dial with rose gold indices, the Longines Conquest Heritage handsomely fits the bill.
Bell & Ross BR 03 Rafale Solo Display
The first chronograph on the list goes to Bell & Ross. The BR 03 Rafale Solo Display collaborative piece with the Rafale Solo Display, the Rafale’s official flight demonstration program operated by the French Air and Space Force, is more than capable of handling everyday wear with its 100m water-resistant black ceramic case. Its chronograph is a useful companion for day-to-day use, from timing the length of a car parking session to your lunchtime round-the-block run.
Breitling Endurance Pro IRONMAN World Championship® 2025
If it is good enough for an IRONMAN® race, then it certainly is good enough for those coffee or matcha runs. The Breitling Endurance Pro IRONMAN World Championship® 2025 features the robust Breitlight® composite case that is 3.3 and 5.8 times lighter than titanium and stainless steel, respectively. While the watch’s colour is perhaps the most in-your-face out of this lot, it screams character more than a bore. The 300-piece limited edition watch is powered by Breitling’s COSC-certified SuperQuartz™ Calibre 82.
