For some watch brands, Mil-Spec (short for Military Specification), dedicated to military-grade equipment, informs a watch’s aesthetic. On the contrary, for a select few, the description goes beyond its outward appearance into its very core. Luminox, famed for its affiliations with elite rescue teams, professional divers and rugged adventurers, ventures into this classification territory with the new Mil-Spec 3350 Series – 3359.SET. The venture is echoed by Pierrick Marcoux, product director at Luminox Group. “Achieving technical MIL-SPEC compliance isn’t just about performance, it’s about commitment to excellence in every technical component and material we’ve used. This new colourway brings a fresh alternative to a truly battle-tested timepiece.”
With compliance class MIL-PRF-46374G TYPE III CLASS 1 in mind, the Luminox team developed a watch that meets its stringent set of technical standards. Luminox’s proprietary CARBONOX™+ case (46mm diameter and 300m water resistance) paired with a Grade 2 titanium bezel forms the bedrock of the watch. The high-performance carbon long bar compound imparts exceptional rigidity and toughness to the case while being six and three times lighter than stainless steel and titanium, respectively.
Given that precision and accuracy are essential in military and rescue-related operations, Luminox opted to use the quartz ETA F06.412 to power the Mil-Spec 3350 Series – 3359.SET. Apart from its enhanced battery life, HeavyDrive and PreciDrive innovations ensure peak operating performance. The former technology delivers a counter-impulse at the moment of impact or shock to prevent the watch hands from accidentally skipping and inadvertently compromising accuracy. Conversely, the latter ensures an annual accuracy of ±10 seconds achievable through a thermocompensated unit that adjusts the motor pulses in response to fluctuations in ambient and water temperature.
Another of Luminox’s great developments, the self-luminous Luminox Light Technology (LLT), provides continuous nighttime visibility for up to 10 years. Contrasting colours used for the watch hands and hour indices reduce confusion and shine as a true north in Luminox’s venture into the realm of rugged, mission-ready performance watches.
