ASICS, Limited Edt and Mr Sabotage reintroduce the Monsoon Patrol concept on the GEL-KAYANO 14 silhouette in cream and black.

At this point, it’s safe to say sneaker brands have pretty much taken collaboration to be a part of their permanent lineups — this being quite literally the case for Kiko Kostadinov and ASICS. Whether it was an effect of him heading the ASICS SportStyle division or the rise of Y2K in general, the love-bombing towards Gel-Kayano 14 has not stopped since its resurgence in popularity, especially with established entities like Kith, atmos and JJJJound signing off with their reinterpretations of the shoe.

The latest creatives to lend their flair to the silhouette include Mr Sabotage or SBTG and local sneaker concept store, Limited Edt. After two earlier iterations featuring the Gel-Lyte III, Monsoon Patrol — the name of this three-way collaboration — reprises on the Gel-Kayano 14, bringing the built-for-tropical-climate signature onto sleek, monochrome silhouettes of colourways cream and black.

The sneaker entails military-style details characteristic of Mr Sabotage, with a label system stenciled on the lateral heel. Mark Ong, or Mr Sabotage, mentions the mandatory military service as a source of inspiration. The biggest design feature of this sneaker is the special detachable shroud, which sits on the tongue of the shoe and conceals a functional, zippered pouch — attachable via buttons. Elsewhere, the translucent silicone coating on the upper comes together with a glossy midsole to give the shoe a unique shine,

This capsule is also accompanied by a 3-piece apparel line in partnership with contemporary lifestyle label GRAYE and a sleek translucent crate with Monsoon Patrol graphics.
