The Must Know Fashion News in June 2022

June 2022’s fashion fix delivers on the qualities of the great summer accompaniments.

All tomes and think-pieces on Monsieur Christian Dior might have different ideas on what kind of man he was, but they have all unanimously agreed on one thing — his passion for things naturally beautiful. That is the excitement one gets when a dress imitates the senses when they take in the beauty of a bouquet of flowers and is an aesthetic nestled in Monsieur Dior’s personal life where he spends most of his free time gardening.

Kim Jones has recently unveiled a new capsule collection that invigorates the same pheromone Monsieur Dior has encapsulated in his work. The CD 1947 capsule collection, released as part of the Winter 2022 collection, is deeply effective when set to a triumphant. Monsieur Dior’s love for nature and gardens are distinguished by sportswear cuts and technically advanced materials that are ideal for the outdoors — thick canvas and polar knits are combined in silhouettes. T-shirts, shirts, sweatshirts, and bermuda shorts are available in soft, luminous palettes of light blue and beige.

Emblazoning this new line are the “Christian Dior” and “1947” (the year of Monsieur Dior’s first fashion show) signatures as seen on ready-to-wear items and accessories which include the B27 sneakers, the Saddle, and Dior Lingot 50 bags. Yet, the most prized possession of all lies in a gardening set that pays tribute to Monsieur Dior himself. The limited-edition ensemble comprises a folding leather seat that evokes the same curves one sees on the Saddle and a leather-clad shovel and rake. These limited-release pieces are available from 16 June in all Dior boutiques.

The Must Know Fashion News in June 2022Bvlgari Men’s Leather Collection
As dire conversations of climate change loom around the globe, it has become increasingly pressing for brands to consider environmentally-conscious offerings for their range of products and to change their supply chain practices. Current projections provided by Fashion Revolution estimate that emissions are predicted to rise to 2.7 billion tonnes a year by 2030 with fashion being a major contributor.

Over at Bvlgari — the House known for jewellery, watches, and fragrances — such efforts are pursued with the launch of a new leather goods collection produced entirely as an eco-conscious alternative. Discreet shapes of leather bags in briefcase, crossbody, and backpack varieties are the main takeaways. However, its main attraction lies in its use of eco-friendly materials such as metal-free calf leather from certified tanneries, ECONYL® regenerated nylon lining, and 100% recycled polyester sewing threads and zippers. Sustainable alternatives such as bamboo fibre packaging boxes and organic cotton dust bags are used as alternatives to plastic.

Coach Carriage Line
The judgement that a Coach bag should last for generations might not sit instantly for some, but with its new Carriage line, Coach has a compelling reason to dispel those perceptions.

Time is key to this new collection. The inspiration behind the Carriage family line of bags is tied to its rich heritage of leather goods — the American brand just turned 81 this year and has produced more than a thousand style of bags over its years in existence. The intentional use of tanned-vegetable leather, which looks better as it ages, in its construction further emphasises that these enduring and high-quality pieces can be passed from one generation to another as heirloom pieces.

Although the Carriage is only available as a backpack for the time being, expect multiple iterations to spawn as it becomes a key piece in Coach’s DNA.

Celine Sneakers
Hedi Slimane knows a thing or two about celebrity culture. Before his current stint at Celine, it was the carefully curated list of A-listers (from Sky Ferreira, Lucky Blue, Zoë Kravitz, Sam Smith to Lady Gaga) that were part of his creation of Saint Laurent’s new stylistic era. They were synonymous with punchiness, uncomplicated empowerment, and a post-concert-celebrity aesthetic that once had a foothold on fashion culture. But as the fashion climate changed over the years, the current Celine helmed by Slimane is undoubtedly shaped by the rise of K-pop’s role in luxury fashion as it continues to ascend at rates previously unpredicted.

How it works lies in the way Celine was a blank slate for menswear. With Slimane, it was the way he entranced with his distinct vision of youth in fashion. Naturally, that has appealed to the Korean market, which still asserts “young” as the conventional standard of beauty in all aspects. The Celine sneaker, a current favourite among Korean celebrities, sees his vision fitting among the new A-listers of the 2020s. As seen on Yoo Taeyang of SF9, Kim Young Dae and Taeyong of NCT, the Celine sneakers (first introduced in the Spring Summer 2022 Cosmic Cruiser collection) have become a mainstay in upcoming collections.

Moncler Genius x JW Anderson
Jonathan Anderson’s eponymous brand has landed a collaboration with Moncler for Fall/Winter 2022. Upbeat escapism defines the new collection as straightforward ideas exemplified by Moncler’s functional codes are “twisted” as seen with most of Anderson’s work. The collection — Anderson’s third for Moncler Genius — strengthens the dialogue between Moncler’s functional and outdoor roots with a focus on patterns, colours, and textures. The collection will be available from 9 June in select Moncler boutiques, on Moncler.com, in the JW Anderson Soho London boutique, and on
JWAnderson.com.

Pedro Spring 2022
“Summercore” is experiencing a surprisingly, unprecedented era of revival. We first reported it as a subcategory in our Spring Summer 2022 trend report where the Tik-Tok viral “cottagecore” trend overtook everyone’s For You Page. The same merits continue with the

Pedro Men’s Summer 2022 collection, composed of tones that have an earthy state of mind with textures and prints that give off a relaxed look and feel. The key highlight of the collection is the Lace-up Sneakers, embossed with palm prints that are seen on the matching backpack. Those who prefer a discerning yet laid-back style should turn to the Raffia Sandals as the perfect alternative.

Ermenegildo Zegna TripleStitch
Ermenegildo Zegna’s key shoe, the TripleStitch returns in a denim version for Spring Summer ‘22. Drawing from Zegna’s heritage and dedication to refined fabrics and textile research, the #UseTheExisting™ Triple Stitch™ slip-on sneakers incorporate repurposed denim into the upper. Equipped with other recycled components, these shoes work towards the dream of zero waste without compromising elegance.
