#TheObsessions — Olivier Cresp of AKRO Shares His Favourite Things
What makes some of these local or global creatives tick? In this weekly column, Olivier Cresp of AKRO shares his favourite things.

1. Dark Chocolate: I am obsessed with dark chocolate, which is why I created DARK. One of my favourite chocolates is Lindt, with 85% cacao. I keep some in the drawer of my desk…my kitchen, my apartment in Cannes…everywhere!

Whenever I travel I must have some right next to my laptop. I find it calms me down.

2. Coffee: I am obsessed with coffee and drinking it is the first habit of my day. Every morning I have to drink some coffee, for the energy. Throughout the day I smell and drink coffee, I love the way it smells – this is why I made AWAKE. I like good, bitter coffee. Please, no sugar!

3. The Smell of Cannabis: I am obsessed with cannabis, but only the smell of it. I smell it everywhere, day and night when I go out especially in big cities like London, New York, Paris. Actually it’s my favourite smell. I don’t smoke at all, and I have never tried it but I love when I cross people on the sidewalk smoking it. This is the reason I created HAZE. The fragrance is very close to the original scent of cannabis, with no CBD.

4. Cleanliness: I am obsessed with cleanliness and it may be due to the pandemic. I am actually working on a clean, wearable fragrance that is like a second skin: when you spray it on, it protects you. When I wear it, I get this impression of freshness – like feeling ready to start your day after taking a shower.

5. Work: I am obsessed with work and it’s true, I must admit. I can’t relax and do nothing because I am quite hyperactive. I always have thousands of ideas in my mind and lots of projects to think about or work on. My work is my passion but I don’t think I will ever create a fragrance around the theme of work. It is too abstract and my perfumery style is figurative.
