Unveiling the Panerai BRABUS Submersible PAM01240

  • By Asaph Low

Panerai and BRABUS Unveils the Submersible S PAM01240Two worlds collide as luxury watchmaker Panerai and German luxury engineers BRABUS come together to present the all-new limited edition Panerai Submersible S BRABUS Black Ops Edition PAM01240. Bold, masculine and non-conformist in design, you can add high-octane and supercharged to the list of Panerai superlatives as the partnership with BRABUS brings German automobile technical knowledge to the world of Panerai.

BRABUS, known by many as luxury car tuners, has been building high-performance supercars for more than 40 years and transforming Mercedes-Benz cars into stylish unique vehicles. Examples like the newly released Brabus 900 Rocket based on the Mercedes-AMG GLE 63S Coupe are a taste of the coveted machines that BRABUS rolls out from their garages. Unbeknownst to many, BRABUS manufactures a series of luxury dayboats as well, one of which — the Shadow Black Ops — serving as the inspiration to the Panerai PAM01240.

Given that both Panerai and BRABUS share a love for the oceans, selecting the Submersible as the collaborative piece feels natural for this partnership. “When we speak about a partnership, it’s not just about a logo, it extends to the highest levels and smallest details. We offer each other complementary skill sets and synergies in terms of products, sales and key markets. The ideas, materials and technologies of our brands will be a vehicle for developing concepts that are both disruptive and spectacular. All of these elements will come together to create results and added value to the benefit of our clients, in terms of service, retail concepts and calibres.” says Panerai CEO, Jean-Marc Pontroué.

The resulting Panerai PAM01240 is a timepiece that bears the signature elements of both Panerai and BRABUS. Clad in the signature grey, black and red colour palettes of BRABUS, a tonal gunmetal grey Carbotech case provides exceptional technical performance thanks to its unique structure. Thin sheets of carbon fibres are compressed at a controlled temperature under high pressure together with the PEEK (Polyether Ether Ketone) polymer, which binds the composite material. The wavy patterns are a result of the cutting orientation of the material making each piece unique from the other. Splashes of BRABUS-red punctuate the predominantly black dial as the watch hands and date window are outlined as a nod to the BRABUS Shadow Black Ops dayboat. BRABUS’s emblems are noticeable throughout the watch as it is engraved on Panerai’s signature crown guard lever, the watch-strap, the movement and the case back.

Panerai and BRABUS Unveils the Submersible S PAM01240Panerai’s diving-enabled Submersible is equipped with a brand new skeletonised calibre as a reference to the S found in the watch name. The automatic calibre P.4001/S calibre is fitted with a tungsten micro-rotor and features a GMT hand, day/night indicator, three-day power reserve indicator fitted on the rear and a patented polarised date display that allows a view of the date indication without covering the mechanics of the skeletonised movement.

Panerai and BRABUS Unveils the Submersible S PAM01240“When put side by side, the similarities in regard to design language and overall character of the Panerai Submersible and the BRABUS Marine line of dayboats are obvious and striking. Both are made to be functional and stylish tools for life in the marine environment and therefore this combination just makes sense,” says Constantin Buschmann, CEO and owner of BRABUS.

The Panerai Submersible S BRABUS Black Ops Edition PAM01240 is limited to 100 pieces.
