Italian tailoring expert Ermenegildo Zegna extends its #UseTheExisting™ commitment to its Triple Stitch sneakers for Fall Winter 2021. The introduction is a conscious effort by the House to maintain a business with sustainability in mind and to further its commitment in making the dream of zero waste possible.

Realised in #UseTheExisting™ fine merino wool, the sneakers deliver repurposed components into sleek design — where recycled materials are used for the footbed, padding, reinforcement and outsole. XXX details and Vicuna coloured accents add a signature finishing touch to the menswear staple.

Enigmatic Crossovers
One of the biggest fashion fanfare this year was the notable “collaboration” between Gucci and Balenciaga, where the brands took turns to propose conceptual interpretations of each Maison’s signatures in their most recent Ready-To-Wear collections. As with Gucci’s centennial Aria collection, Balenciaga’s Spring 2022 sees Gucci’s signatures cross-bred with Balenciaga products. Far from being a gimmick, the Hacker Project is an inquiry on the ideas of authenticity, counterfeiting and appropriation within the fashion industry.

This conceptual motif is evident in the replacement of the archival double-G diamond monogram design transformed to consist of double-B logos on a variety of leather goods and accessories. Also included are limited edition bags hand-tagged with “This Is Not a Gucci Bag”, slated to hit stores by the end of October 2021.

Industrial Statement
The Givenchy Antigona bag has long held the status of being an “It” bag for both genders and its new interpretations by creative director Matthew Williams is set to further its reach.

For Fall Winter 2021, the Maison expands the Antigona family with two new styles — reimagined as a backpack and crossbody bag. Interestingly, an unconventionally intricate process of high-frequency wave techniques and electro welding are used to finish the bags. Industrial hardware makes a comeback with the soft matte black leather — previously utilised amongst William’s House introductions like the 4G bags — and cements the Givenchy Antigona as a unique statement piece for one’s wardrobe.

Runway Furnishing
Versace’s new La Greca monogram pattern lands on the Italian House’s new collection of home furniture and accessories made to last. The La Greca pattern — a modern interpretation of Versace’s iconic Greek Key first introduced in the Fall Winter 2021 collection — made a reappearance at Milan Design Week.

Displayed on jacquard fabrics on 1970s inspired beds and sofas, the collection was crafted as part of a collaboration between Donatella Versace and design duo, Roberto Palomba and Ludovica Serafini. As part of this launch, the pattern was also seen as a backdrop for some of the salon rooms in the Versace Milan store.

Soft Touch
Fendi’s Fall Winter 2021 menswear collection features clothes so comfortable one can almost go to bed in it and that idea extends to its bags too. For the first time since its introduction in menswear, Fendi introduces a major update to its most recognisable bag — the Baguette. Now reimagined in a medium size alongside ultra-cosy and soft technical nylon, the bag extends artistic director Silva Venturi Fendi’s desire to create a sense of humour and respite in fashion through playful imaginations.

Available in blue and the Maison’s iconic yellow, the bag is also made almost entirely of regenerated ECONYL® nylon and can be endlessly recycled — perfect for those who are consciouslly investing for the environment too.
