As with every Saint Laurent collection from Anthony Vaccarello, a sense of ingenuity is felt despite using ideas that one might think is lacklustre and uninspired. What Vaccarello does best is connecting the past with the present, and in turn, creating a new odyssey of dressing that evokes a strong sense of desire — the same way Yves Saint Laurent once did. For Fall Winter 2021, one is transported back into the days of pre-internet Britain. Wool cardigan of rock’s past makes a huge comeback, while thin leather belts recalls the styles of emerging underground artists in the late 1990s.

But each passage of the collection is neither over-the-top, nor unwearable. Although nods to subcultures are prevalent, they are transformed as timeless, classic menswear staples that exudes a care-free attitude.

Fall Winter 2021 is in many ways undone, simple and nonchalant. It heavily embodies the act of dressing that simply looks cool, which best describes the modernity of such a storied Maison.
