In need of an adventure away from home during Phase 2 (Heightened Alert) for the next few weeks? Consider making a trip down to Alliance Française de Singapour to experience and appreciate French cultural arts and dance — the history of French ballet courtesy of “DANCE: A Tribute to Rudolf Nureyev” in particular.

For the first time ever, the non-profit educational and cultural organisation will be showcasing the legacy of respected ballet dancer and choreographer Rudolf Nureyev — the greatest male ballet dancer of his time — through a private collection of his protégé, Charles Jude.

The exhibition will be open to the public from 15 July to 15 September and will feature 14 iconic costumes of Nureyev’s from his signature ballets Swan Lake, La Bayadère, and more, as well as 49 unpublished photographs. Alliance Française de Singapour has also planned a series of workshops, films and talks to further educate Singaporeans on the art of dance and French culture.

“It is an honour to be able to showcase this exquisite collection from one of the most influential figures in ballet to Singapore. Dance, and ballet specifically, is hugely important to France’s cultural tapestry, and we are thrilled to be incorporating this into our French Excellence programming, which showcases French expertise and history to facilitate cross-cultural understanding,” says Fabian Forni, Executive Director of Alliance Française de Singapour.
