#MFMF87: Editor-in-Chief Wilson Lim's "Precision Perfected" Playlist

I have previously shared about creating a playlist from toggling Radio on tracks and that to me is a “Precision Perfected” playlist. The algorithm on Spotify has figured out the very specific type of EDM that I’m into — fast-paced, bass-heavy and lyrical (not a two-liner that is repeated throughout the song).

This is perhaps a good example of how technology has enabled us to love even more than what we already love. So, the below additions of this “Precision Perfected” playlist is a mix of new artistes and a rediscovery of artistes I used to love that I have spent very little time and effort on — all thanks to the Radio function.

Nathan Dawe — Flowers ft. Jaykae

The literal radio (the one that transmits sound from radio frequencies) actually helped me get acquainted with Nathan Dawe with his popular track, “Way Too Long” with Anne-Marie and MoStack. The first time I heard that song, my back straightened because it is exactly the UK Garage sound I so deeply love. “Flowers” is one of his previous songs that is included in the “Way Too Long” Radio playlist.

“Flowers” is a precision perfected song for me — lyrical with claps that you can literally clap to and when the MC rap comes in, fantastical!

Yellow Claw, Juyen Sebulba & Sihk — Bassgod ft. Ramengvrl

I discovered this from the Radio Playlist of Bok Nero’s “Red Paper” featuring Charlz & Paul Cicada (fair warning: it’s quite a vulgar song) and the name “Bassgod” told me I had to listen to it. While it might not be bass-heavy (the disappointment), but the fast-paced electronic beats are still tripping — watch the music video and you will know what I’m talking about.

This is a great song when you are late and you don’t want to be stopped by credit card/donation salespeople in public, you’ll walk so fast — precision perfected soundtrack of my life.

Excision & Slander — Your Fault ft. Elle Vee

Another song that hooked me with its name because reading it in my head took a very Singaporean tone to it. Thankfully not the case, “Your Fault” unfolds in a very emotional trough of Vee’s passionate rendition of emotional pain accompanied by classical strings then picks up the pace into hard electronic sounds with Vee’s dispassionate background vocals repeating “your fault”.

Precision perfected soundtrack to when someone f***s you over in life.

Cash Cash — Gasoline ft. Laura White

Cash Cash is the one that I rediscovered again, I was a big fan of the 2016 track “Devil”. This is a pretty chill track as compared to the previous three.

“There’s no end to you and me \ It’s like putting out, fire with gasoline \ And when we get so close, it’s hard to breathe” — precision perfected soundtrack when you’re getting through work deadlines. Belt out the three lines and you’ll feel better.
