Fizzy of Fizzyoga along with clutter-free watches, teaches techniques to calm minds and master time to be on one’s side.

Pictured above: EXTENDED SIDE ANGLE POSE

Start with legs approximately four feet apart. Bend the right knee at a 90 degree angle, ensuring it is stacked on top of the heel. Place the right hand on the floor and as one straightens the left leg, bringing awareness to the outer edges of the foot to ensure it is firmly grounded and not lifted up. Point the left hand towards the sky.

Advice: This pose strengthens and stretches thighs, ankles and knees. It also increases the flexibility of one’s shoulders in its full position.

CROW POSE

Start with a squatting position. Position knees on the arms with hands pressing firmly down into the floor. While looking slightly ahead, use one’s toes to teasingly tip forward into the pose.

Advice: This is a confidence building exercise that requires a certain amount of strength. When one is eventually able to hold the position, it heightens the level of calmness during tough situations.

TREE POSE

Stand firmly with both legs on the ground. Begin leaning to one side and observe how the supporting leg gets firmly engaged from the toes and all the way to the glutes. As the “free” leg gets lighter, lift it up and press the feet into the inner thigh/calf.

Advice: Do not place feet on the supporting knee. This pose strengthens the hips, thighs and whole leg in a balanced state. For stability, focus on one spot.

Stand upright and step approximately four feet forward with the right leg. Angle the left foot 45 degrees outwards. Begin to bend the right knee to a level one is comfortable with, ensuring it is stacked directly on top of the heel. Raise the hands up towards the sky and have the palms lightly touching each other after stabilising a foundation.

Advice: Find a comfortable and stable position first. Ensure one’s hind leg does not lift up while bending the front knee — doing so will strengthen the leg structure.

SEATED LOTUS POSE

Sit on the floor with both legs extended. Bend the right knee and hug it to one’s chest before placing it on the left hip crease with the sole facing upwards — the top of the foot should be on the hip crease itself. Next, take the left knee, cross the left ankle on top of the right shin bone and slowly bring it to the right hip crease. If one manages to get into the whole posture, both of the feet’s soles should be pointing upwards.

Advice: This is a grounding pose to calm the mind. It straightens the spine for good posture, and when done safely, is good for the hips, knees and ankles. However, one should avoid or slowly progress to this pose if there are prior injuries to the knees, ankles or hips.
