Happy Bars to Booze at Without Going Broke

  • By Bryan Goh

We at Men’s Folio have done an anthropological study when it comes to the human behavioural pattern of after-work boozing — the jocks and banker bros situate themselves at dive bars, the cougars prowl around anywhere where they can swig expensive wine and the most popular kids in class flock to the latest It-bars (#blessed, #livinglife, #startedfromthebottom).

Where else do the rest of us on the opposite end of the spectrum go? We recommend skipping the bottom-shelf booze or spirits you can’t pronounce — here are four bars situated around town with the most marvellous happy hour promotions.

Pictured Above: Perched on the 40th floor of the CapitaGreen building, the view of the CBD at Artemis Sky Lounge is pretty fantastic. Their happy hour promotions are fantastic too — pilsners and lagers go at $10, gin & tonics are priced at $15 and wines (red, white and prosecco) will only set you back by $15. If you’re not wowed by now, their happy hour runs from Monday (3pm to 1am) to Saturday (5pm till late).

Artemis Sky Lounge is located at 138 Market Street, #40-01 CapitaGreen, Singapore 048946.

Chi Kinjo

New-Project-35

We don’t know what is compelling you to drink at 5pm on a weekday (you okay buddy?) but the only advice we have would be that Chi Kinjo’s happy hour starts then (the promo runs from 5pm to 8pm pm on weekdays). $5++ nets you mini chirashi dons, mini negitoro dons or five pieces of sashimi while whiskey highballs, house spirits, and wines are priced at $5++ too. If you’ve drunk yourself to the literal point of no return on Friday and ended up waking at Chi Kinjo the next day, the $5++ whisky highball promotion still stands.

Chi Kinjo is located at 29 Stanley Street, Singapore 068738.

MO Bar

Ruinart champagne is the OG of all champagne. It is the Rolls Royce of bubbly. It is now also available as a buffet beverage at MO Bar where you can swig it down with New Zealand Pacific oysters (salty and plump!) for two solid blissful hours. The Champagne & Oysters promotion only happens every Wednesday from 6pm to 10 pm (priced at $68++) but if you can go one more round, just top up $48++ for an hours’ extension.

MO Bar is located at Mandarin Oriental, 5 Raffles Avenue, Level 4, Singapore 039797.

Summerlong

There’s no shame in choosing a generic glass of wine as your alcoholic beverage of choice and there’s also no shame if you become a regular at Summerlong’s Wine Down Wednesday. Priced at $39++ for two hours or $45++ for three hours (the promotion runs between 6pm to 11pm), choose between a 2017 Sebastian Dampt Chablish white from Burgundy or a 2014 red Katogi Averoff Xinomavro from Greece. Pronouncing both names are difficult and so is stopping at three glasses. Again, no shame

Summerlong is located at 60 Robertson Quay #01-04, Singapore 238252.
