With Kim Jones helming Dior Men as the artistic director, everything came as a pleasant surprise for fans of the storied maison. Other than the Spring/Summer ’19 debut signature Saddle Bag, Jones also dived into the house’s archives and transformed the iconic Cannage print into a weekend bag, infused with KAWS bee appliqué.
Jones and KAWS reworked an ideal weekend bag and shopper to be subtilely illusional and sophisticated. The bags’ Cannage pattern was inspired by the elegant Napolean III-style chairs that were historically used to seat clients attending the Haute Couture shows at 30 Avenue Montaigne. It has been successfully interpreted into timeless classics with the use of laser-cutting technology as well as meticulous handwork.
Available in black and natural tan colour, the bags’ Cannage design crisscrosses like lace to partially reveal the internal pouch, which is printed with the emblematic bee reimagined by American artist KAWS. Armed with timelessness, functionality and a dash of whimsical, the Cannage weekend bag would definitely be bringing one places.
