This November, major street retailer Stüssy has unveiled a Holiday collection dedicated to global subcultures, examined through Californian lens. The release is peppered with key looks depicting a mix of music and culture references. From the disheveled prep of the Mods to the sporty yet muted psychedelia of Madchester, style cues from musical movements that may have once been at odds find themselves working together here in harmony.
A combination of textile manipulations such as dying, embroidery and whimsical prints highlight the season’s collection. Must-have travel essentials include down puffers and flight jackets, served in tradition Fall hues that are trans-seasonal and timeless. Meanwhile, staple layers were given an eccentric update— mushroom print rayon shirting, poppy emblazoned denim and atmospheric fleece are just a few examples. These garments also serve as a friendly reminder that although Stüssy is worn primarily in urban playgrounds, they never forget the natural world that served as the brand’s initial inspiration.
