Petra Collins Paints A Hungarian Dreamscape For Gucci Eyewear this Spring/Summer

  • By Shelton Chang

A manifestation of memories, childhood places and beautiful rural landscapes and interiors of her native Hungary, Petra Collins directed an exclusive film for Gucci’s Spring/Summer 2017 eyewear collection.

Collins creates a whimsical world, featuring two doe-eyed children escaping from their snoozing grandmother who is having a siesta. The two young cousins are transported on a surreal voyage, wondering through the oneiric countryside before stepping into an ornate, traditional thermal bath-house, with a glitzy dressed woman jamming to a guitar.

Throughout the film, key designs from the Gucci Spring/Summer 2017 eyewear collection stand out, matching the surreal surroundings and the eclectic characters. Gucci’s eyewear and Petra’s boundless imagination blend perfectly in this personal and unique short film, woven together with magic, wonderment, and memories.
