Fashion designer and avid photographer, Karl Lagerfeld may already be 80 – but that has not stopped him from being the creative master behind Chanel and Fendi. As such, it is not surprising that the Maison is still taking on new projects and set to be release a new line of fragrances bearing his name. Under a license agreement signed with Interparfums, details on what notes are being used are still under wraps. For now, the media has been told that it will smell of green floral, described as a modern and fresh scent. “I believe that perfume should be something highly sensual,” said Lagerfeld.

Earlier in March, Lagerfeld teased his social media followers with pictures of faceless models wearing his iconic sports leather gloves. The advert pushed for more youth involvement, asking people to use the hashtag #Karlparfumes to rally people to know more about his fragrance launch. On the released photo, Lagerfeld explains, “I wanted the photo to reflect this idea. You do not wear a perfume only to smell nice, but because you want to feel handsome or beautiful.”

It has now been confirmed that models, Kati Nescher and the Chanel designer’s male muse, Baptiste Giabiconi (who has appeared numerous times in Lagerfeld’s ad campaigns, along with prime slots on the runway). “We needed one boy and one girl. Baptiste and Kate were perfect for what I wanted to embody. There was no other option possible,” said Karl.

The fragrances are set to debut at Harrods come 9 March 2014, before being made available at other select locations on 24 March 2014. This is not the first time Lagerfeld is dappling in fragrances.

Back in 1982, his first perfume, KL possessed a blend of orange spices, cinnamon, orchid, amber vanilla and clove. In addition, he was also responsible for the original Chloé by Chloé further back in 1975.
