Cartier’s new collection of objects and accessories celebrate the codes of the Maison with a family spirit integral to the season of joy.
When one understands the beauty of craftsmanship, that knowledge and attitude towards objects transcend into everyday life. Cartier has an illustrious history of creating meaningful and precious pieces of jewellery and watches, so it should be no surprise that the exercise of its traditional savoir-faire extends into the treatment of everyday objects that are no less present and meaningful in our daily routines or special occasions.
After all, the art of fine jewellery is closely linked with the art of creating precious objects that accompany the upper crust during the turn of the century. From the very beginning, alongside its jewels, Cartier had crafted ornaments in silver, bronze, ivory, and porcelain, as well as carved hard-stone objects for royal clientele, distinguishing that lifestyle as one filled with the luxurious wonder of art, carefully crafted by artisans.
Hence, the interest in everyday ware has always been a part of Cartier’s identity, only becoming more sophisticated and refined with the times.
Spanning the genres of games, travel, literature, home decor and children’s items, Maison Cartier’s object and accessories collection this year taps into the warmth of family to anchor the overall mood and sentiment of its creations.
For their Panthère de Cartier home collection, the compelling black panthère is framed in cypress alongside the white and gold porcelain table and peacock decoration. The porcelain trinket trays and more miscellaneous items are also available in a blue and green colourway, in keeping with an artistic legacy inspired by Islamic art.
The more playful Diabolo de Cartier collection brings elegance with an audacity to the fore. A luggage tag, a vanity mirror, a snow globe, a trinket tray, or a tic-tac-toe game are all stamped with the Maison bellboy, ladybird and the red box heart, floating about haphazardly — a reflection of how this collection was created in 1944 to celebrate the Liberation.
This season also introduces all these objects in navy blue for the first time, on top of the traditional red.
Last but not least, the Cartier Baby collection invites the panthère to keep watch or play, all dressed in white on delicate white porcelain bowls. There’s also a cashmere blanket in a powdery baby blue shade — a good gift idea for anyone that wants to feel pampered like a baby again.
