Inventive Innovation : The Oakley Re:SubZero
Packed with 40 years of innovation, the new Oakley Re:SubZero is an advanced, almost weightless, lightweight frame determined to improve the functions of life.

We have worn them as clip-on, aviators, visors, and cat-eyes. We have flirted with every colour imaginable, from the quartz mimicking turtle shells to the pinks of an Australian salt lake and even transparent acetate frames. Even metal frames are making a comeback today. And every time, we have shown some technical progress with how it looks and feels on the face.

The 1990s was a watershed decade for eyewear. Not simply because it was the decade where shades triumphed in the age of techno-minimalism but also the decade Oakley set out to create the world’s most innovative pieces of eyewear that still lingers in our minds. Now, the limit has been broken with the launch of the Re:SubZero, an advanced, almost weightless, lightweight frame.

Inventive Innovation : The Oakley Re:SubZeroIts name implores even the impossible. Why SubZero? By definition: below zero is commonly used to describe temperatures like the cold Siberian winters at the start of each year. But Oakley inventively implores a revision of its meaning. SubZero in weight, obstruction, and failure; an object lighter than air itself, designed to improve your life.

Now, what would that look like?

Inventive Innovation : The Oakley Re:SubZeroThe frame of the Oakley Re:SubZero features PhysioMorphic Geometry, a hallmark technology at Oakley which allows for a lens design with an extended wrap and rigidity in critical areas that mimic the structural properties of a frame. Taking inspiration from the human experience and the laws of nature, PhysioMorphic Geometry unlocks eyewear to be designed and developed without limitations and lenses built without any shape constraints.

This unique feature results in a seamless design and mask-like fit without carrying the restrictions of a frame.

A unique lens attachment leverages the Oakley icon to connect the lens, lug, stem, and icon into a flush, one-of-a-kind design. The sunglasses have been outfitted with PrizmTM Lens Technology, designed to enhance colour and contrast in its unique shield lens design. Two Unobtainium® nose pads of different thicknesses and depths allow for varying offsets, creating a perfect fit and no-slip grip.

“In times like the one we are living, we have the duty to inspire people to use sports as a platform to a better life, to foster a better community and ultimately a better world. Sports relieves, unites, heals, and transforms,” said Caio Amato, Oakley Global Head of Marketing in the press notes.

“Re:SubZero is a result of our obsession with creating a great experience for consumers to relieve the heavyweight each one is carrying, regardless of their levels. It is 40 years of heavy innovation, in just 24g! a very lightweight & versatile experience for you to seek the best version of yourself.”

Oakley has found itself at something of a crossroads this time. Appealing to consumers eager for the highest performance wear and the younger generation who have dissipated the brand’s image into something desirable as a high-fashion luxury item, the Re:SubZero pushes that boundary even further. What is most telling of its legacy is how it functions, not just as a sleek pair of rave accessories but as something that has improved your performance in movement.

The Oakley Re:SubZero is available in the Oakley store at Marina Bay Sands and selected certified Oakley resellers.
