For the past few years, Canali has been one of the bolder brands that create more daring suits for their targeted age bracket (a more mature group). The Italian brand was recently seen experimenting with deeper and flashier colors, but for this coming Fall/Winter 2013 season, they’re playing around with texture. Their main storyline? Russia. Elisabetta Canali explained that “It’s the most Italian city in Eastern Europe,” a true statement since a majority of their buildings were designed by Italian Architects. The color scheme was splashed with petrol blue, plum, and brick; inspired directly by famed Abstract Expressionist artist Mark Rothko. The clothing themselves were quintessentially Italian; a dandy’s dream. With suits in the most luxurious fabrics and textures, Canali proves that subtle opulence is still probable in the realm of mature tailoring; meaning these pieces will last you till you grow grey.
