This Week in Collabs: Revisiting The Past with Telfar, Rick Owens, Stone Island and More

  • By Lance Aeron

A new week of collaborations shows that there’s always something great in revisiting the past while working on the new.

Brands like Telfar, Rick Owens, and Off-White™ are returning with new collaborations alongside their existing partners. Meanwhile, over at Stone Island, the brand is celebrating years of successful collaborations with New Balance while coming out with a new pair of shoes. It’s evident that these brands are not only revisiting their history but also innovating with fresh ideas. Dive into the details below.

1. Telfar X UGGS

To kick things off, UGG and Telfar are extending their partnership with a fresh collaboration that dresses the signature styles of both brands in denim. This new collection showcases a range of pieces in the fabric, from their iconic shopping bag, mini boots, to leggings and underwear.

Telfar X UGGS is available for purchase on the official Telfar store from September 25 and on the official UGGS store from September 28.

2. Rick Owens X Converse

Rick Owens and Converse have returned, keeping their collab streak alive. This time, they introduce the DBL DRKSTAR Chuck 70 — a Chuck Taylor that’s been uniquely elevated with an elongated tongue and a raised platform that distorts proportions. This collaboration perfectly embodies their bold design ethos, paying tribute to Rick Owens’ avant-garde style while preserving Converse’s everyday essential appeal.

Rick Owens X Converse is available for purchase online on the official Converse and Rick Owen’s online store.

3. CDG X Yamaichi

Named “CDG YI,” this collection is bathed in black and artfully weaves together Yamaguchi’s diverse experiences in various forms of media, including music and art, with the timeless style of COMME des Garçons. This nine-piece capsule collection reimagines the CDG logo with a fresh look while emphasising the edgy elegance of black attire, showcasing the seamless intersection of the creative spaces in music and fashion.

CDG X Yamaichi is available for purchase online  from September 23.

4. Stone Island X New Balance Made in UK

After a decade of successful collaborations, Stone Island and New Balance are introducing the MADE in UK 991v2. Their partnership began in 2013 with the 577 runners, and ten years later, they are unveiling a brand-new silhouette in the form of the 991v2. This design features a colour palette of olive, grey, and black, drawing inspiration from the industrial spaces that have doubled as venues and clubs. These hues reflect the everyday surroundings of trains, pubs, and terraces, capturing the true essence of London as a whole.

Stone Island X New Balance Made in UK is available for purchase online and select Stone Island Stores from October 4.

5. Cafe Kitsune X Casio

This collaboration infuses a touch of Parisian elegance into the Casio classic. Inspired by the A168 line of Casio wristwatches, the design adopts a minimalist approach. The chronograph features a sleek silver band, reminiscent of the iconic architecture found throughout the streets of the French capital, while a cream-coloured dial with an orange LCD fixes the Café Kitsuné logo as a centrepiece of the watch.

Cafe Kitsune X Casio is available for purchase online.

6. Off-White™ X AC Milan

While the lines between the sport and fashion continue to blur, AC Milan enters its second consecutive year in European’s top-tier soccer league competition. The ‘red and blacks,’ are unveiling their second Off-Pitch Uniforms Collection in collaboration with Off-White™. This collection takes streetwear to new heights by blending traditional football and sports motifs with the subcultural influences of the streetwear like ‘blokecore‘.

Off-White X AC Milan is available for purchase online  from September 22.

7. Feng Cheng Wang X Nike

Feng Chen Wang has joined forces with Nike to introduce their inaugural collaboration, presenting a reimagined collection with a strong focus on sportswear. The Chinese label’s distinctive blend of over-construction and traditional sporty design elements shine through in this functional collection while it seamlessly combines elements from diverse cultures and design influences, serving as a testament to both brands’ dedication to experimentation within athleisure.

Feng Cheng Wang X Nike is available for purchase online  from September 23.

8. UNDERCOVER X Kosuke Kawamura

UNDERCOVER has teamed up with collage artist Kosuke Kawamura for an exciting line of collectibles. By incorporating Kawamura’s distinctive mangled design technique, this collection is centred around his artistic signatures. The collection is made up of outerwear, jackets, long-sleeves, and T-shirts featuring a striking torn-up finish achieved through intricate layering.

UNDERCOVER X Kosuke Kawamura is available for purchase online  from September 28.

9. A.P.C. X Mizuno

A.P.C. seamlessly blends French minimalism with Mizuno’s sportswear-inspired silhouettes in this latest series. The collection showcases two understated mountain jackets, complete with functional pockets, snaps, and straps. Available in  shades such as green and a two-toned black and grey, this collab is a departure from A.P.C.’s typical minimal style while incorporating Mizuno’s practical design elements.
