Loro Piana’s Icons Celebrate a Centenary of Timeless Craft

The beauty of rigour is timeless.

Loro Piana extracts the meaning of timeless elegance with its Icons; through The Traveller field jacket, Grande Unita scarf to the André Shirt, the artisanal house tells its celebrated, craft-driven, 100-year story.

Long before its rise to prominence in today’s global fashion conversation, Loro Piana has already been quietly crafting its legacy from its savoir-faire — today’s mastery of what is both designed for functionality and style is a mere continuation of what the maison set out to do at the start.

A love for the sports is perhaps what fuelled this long-lasting marriage of values. Loro Piana often found inspiration from the disciplines of sailing, horse-riding, classic cars, skiing, and the lifestyles around it, henceforth why its solutions have always been the hallmark of sophisticated comfort. The silhouettes, their meticulous attention to detail, and the balanced volumes that promise impeccable performance bring to the store a discerning crowd of pleasure-seekers — only these find luxury in what is often times more hidden than exposed.

Curated here are three notable pieces — and the all-new men’s leather goods collection — that have been met with season after season of tender rigour, each piece made with the spirit of timeless beauty, embracing “iconic” to different degrees.

The Traveller

First launched in 2007, the Traveller field jacket makes for the perfect companion for the individual who is always on the move — whether it be for work or pleasure. Discreet and suitable for all occasions, it is immediately recognisable by its distinct outer pockets and collar strap; its waist drawstring and numerous multi-purpose pockets are the key features that make this the perfect utility addition to a formal jacket.

It’s clean lines and matte finish microfibre lend it a crisp, refined look, versatile yet put together without the need for too much effort.

Grande Unita

The Grande Unita is cleverly cut from a cashmere cloth from the Piedmont factory, sliced along the border of the fabric to create an elongated scarf. The hyphen between the Loro Piana textile heritage and the maison’s new era of accessories and ready-to-wear was the first finished product by Sergio and Pier Luigi Loro Piana in the 1980s, first sold only in the showroom in the United States.

Soft, warm and coated in the exclusive Loro Piana “frisson” finish — which gives the fabric sheen and adds luminosity to the colours — the Grande Unita is a cold-weather travel staple that makes every wearing opportunity an occasion of absolute comfort.

André Shirt

Named after Swiss artist and painter André Piot, this iconic shirt is a representation of the understated elegance that makes Loro Piana. Created in 1998, it was inspired by 1950s Neapolitan shirt-making and the sartorial flair the gentlemen of that era. The shirt’s collar has wide, folded facings that are pliant to wearing with or without a tie, under a jacket or sweater.

The casual charm of the shirt is an extension of the namesake and frequent Loro Piana collaborator, who has dedicated much of his life to the world of textiles; first made in denim then in the summer-favourite linen, the André is also now treated with aloe vera for added softness and gentleness on the skin — the perfect all-in-one summertime companion.

Pair With: Loro Piana’s First Men’s Leather Goods Collection

For Fall Winter 2024-2025, Loro Piana has put together a collection of soft and practical bags that not only completes the silhouette, but adds a touch of further conscientious subtlety.

The oversized Bale Hobo bag extracts the best of soft and supple leather, the shape drawing from the Maison’s textile heritage — likening to large bundles of raw fibre. The seamless design and unique lightness is matched with a unlined design crafted from a carefully selected single piece of leather, and is available in the three grained leather looks of Azuki Beans, Warm Mastic or Salty Capers.

The Loom Weekender travel bag is now introduced, a new hold-all rendition of the original design. The leather of this carrier drapes gracefully over the bag’s double metal bar, evoking the movement of fabric on a loom. Small locks with elegant rounded edges engraved with the initials LP are also found on the bag, one on the clasp and the other on the inside of the vintage-style leather key fob. The sensorial touch is amplified by three distinct colourways and finishes Tender Calf, Melton Cashmere and Cashfur.
