Kim Jones Connects Hennessy With the World of Couture
English fashion designer, Kim Jones once again lends his creativity — and this time around to Hennessy.

From celebrated artist Refik Anadol to world-famous architect Frank Gehry and renowned film director Ridley Scott, Hennessy is no stranger to collaborations with creatives. The Hennessy X.O x Kim Jones collaboration marks the maiden partnership between the French cognac maker and the artistic director of Dior Men — an unprecedented partnership that concocts the 150-year heritage of Hennessy X.O and the creative vision of Kim Jones — giving birth to three exclusive items namely the Hennessy X.O Masterpiece designed by Kim Jones, the Hennessy X.O Limited Edition bottle by Kim Jones and the HNY Low by Kim Jones.

Produced from an LVMH-owned shoe factory in Italy, the HNY Low by Kim Jones sneaker inspired by early basketball shoes is crafted with light cognac-coloured nubuck leather — a material that renders patina with age. The limited-edition sneaker is juxtaposed with a classic lace-up upper and boasts a technical sole in tonal grooved rubber adorned with an imprint of cognac vines and the Hennessy X.O x Kim Jones logo. The first fashion item ever introduced by the French cognac maker is finished with an embellishment of the initials KJ and the Hennessy bras armé emblem on the heel and comes in an oak box that mimics the barrels used to age the eau-de-vie.

The team-up is not only a testament to an ingenious idea but also a parade of Kim Jones’ couture savoir-faire, which he has honed throughout his tenures at major fashion Houses. Created with 3D printing technology and finished by hand, the Hennessy X.O Masterpiece, limited to 200 pieces, showcases the impeccable draping technique that is usually visible on couture pieces while paying homage to the tradition of cognac making at the turn of the 20th century where the Hennessy bottles were carefully hand-enveloped in tissue paper. The Hennessy X.O Limited Edition bottle by Kim Jones completes the collaboration with an aluminium “ready-to-wear” iteration of Masterpiece that pays tribute to the signature shape of the Hennessy X.O bottle.
