GREEN-HOUSE Inspires Us to Shop Intentionally for Our Homes
GREEN-HOUSE by Pass It On is back with a second edition of its immersive retail experience with over 70 sustainable home and lifestyle brands this July, in partnership with Mercedes-Benz.

Given the abundance of resources available today, attempting to incorporate sustainability into one’s lifestyle might still be a challenge. Where do you begin and how do you start? Contrarily, in a highly urbanised city like Singapore, sustainable living is not as widely embraced. However, Pass It On, a homegrown retail platform of sustainable lifestyle goods, who are also the organisers of GREEN-HOUSE, seeks to inspire us to lead a low-carbon footprint lifestyle.

Back with its second edition this year, GREEN-HOUSE will be held at Castlery Orchard Flagship on 8-9 July. With a thriving community of over 70 brands and partners to discover, add this event to your calendar for some homeware shopping.
GREEN-HOUSE Inspires Us to Shop Intentionally for Our HomesIt is events like GREEN-HOUSE that enact a positive change on our planet, pushing us to make more conscious decisions as consumers when we shop. Their belief that “for a habit to stick and evolve into a lifestyle, it needs to find its way into your room if not home” echoes how sustainability can start from somewhere as simple as our safe haven that is home, as we decorated it to nurture us. The vast array of brands may seem overwhelming but fret not, the event is segregated into different zones based on different personas for our ideal sustainable home, to make the shopping experience more aligned to our needs.

These zones are: A Home That Comforts – for married couples who own a home together; A Home That Nurtures – for families with growing children; A Home That Inspires – for youths who seek a space that expresses their individuality; A Home That Recharges – for PMEBS who seek their sanctuaries to rest.

This year, GREEN-HOUSE’s wide selection spans across beauty, fashion, food, home décor, and children’s clothing to meet our demands. Some standouts include eco-conscious womenswear label Esse, Hegg, a Singapore-headquartered start-up that created the Eggless Egg in the form of a plant-based egg powder, and Hands Design, a family-owned business that specialises in handcrafted wood and resin to create unique, functional wares for the everyday person.

With the partnership of Mercedes-Benz, other teasers to anticipate include a a test drive or joyride down Orchard Road in one of Mercedes-Benz’s extensive range of Electric Vehicles (EV). GREEN-HOUSE will also be holding enriching talks from urban farming, leather tanning to composting at home and workshops to silk-screen your own tote bag and customise your own natural deodorant with essential oils.

The large-scale sustainable event will be designed with an art installation by TANCHEN Studio, Mercedes-Benz and Castlery titled “Reincarnation”, greeting everyone at the stairway entrance to GREEN- HOUSE 2023. Such an installation seeks to spark thought-provoking conversations around how we can intercede waste into our surroundings and furniture as it is built from waste car parts contributed by Mercedes-Benz’s workshops, and returned furniture pieces from Castlery.

All with the goal of curating a “dream home” setting, the participating brands of GREEN-HOUSE 2023 introduces shoppers to a range of local sustainable home and lifestyle products, that reassures us that leading an urban eco-conscious lifestyle, is not so difficult afterall. Whether you shop or not, swinging by GREEN-HOUSE is plays a part as each guest’s attendance will result in the planting of a tree. The event is coming back twice as strong this July, demonstrating that it has no intention of compromising on its objective of sustainable living.

Shop over 70 brands at Castlery Orchard Flagship from 8-9 July 2023 from 10am to 9pm. Once you’re done with this GREEN-HOUSE story, click here to catch up with our June/July 2023 issue!
