Dyson’s 360 Vis Nav Puts All Other Robot Vacuums To Shame

  • By Charmaine Tan

Hold your breath — Dyson 360 Vis Nav has six times the suction of any other robot vacuum.

Necessity is truly the mother of all invention, as the robot vacuum only exists to complement our sedentary and extra-comfortable, tech-infused, contemporary lifestyles. But it’s never been as well adapted to all of “lazy” habits as the Dyson 360 Vis Nav has — truly the lazy person’s new best and must-have best friend.

It’s understandable that cleaning can be a therapeutic process for some. Decluttering also happens in the mind as a mental by-product when you clean up. But if you’re just so busy with other things to tidy up your living space, or at least keep the floor clean, Dyson’s robot vacuum has got you covered.

While other robot vacuum cleaners have side sweepers that flick dirt away, Dyson’s machine sucks it up with an advanced actuator, ensuring the edges of all rooms in your home are clean. Engineered with unique Dyson Simultaneous Localisation and Mapping (SLAM) technology, the Dyson 360 Vis Nas boasts a fish-eye lens or 360-degree vision system which knows where it has been, sees where to clean, and is intelligent enough to respond to dust sensed in the home and create dust maps of your home – providing a scientific proof of a deep clean.

This high-level processor thinks and adapts, collecting data from sensors to pinpoint its position within 71mm — but of course, you have to train it to map out the full surface area of your house first. Arguably the best aspect of Dyson’s latest piece of innovation is its incorporation of the MyDyson app. Features on the app include the ability to create, customise and schedule zones. Owners can define zones in their home and set it to clean at specific times of the day, and you don’t even need to be home to do it. So the more detailed and complete the initial mapping, the more customisation options the 360 Vis Nav will have. So best to let it sniff around good — then will the 26 sensors on the robot perform specific tasks like dust detection, obstacle avoidance and detecting walls to clean right to the edge more effectively.

As for the power this little device packs, the Dyson Hyperdymium motor spins up to 110,000rpm to deliver six times the suction of any other robot vacuum. It also features Dyson’s new triple-action brush bar – Dyson’s first brush bar to combine three ways to deep clean with powerful suction: soft ‘Fluffy’ nylon for large debris pick up on hard floors; anti-static carbon fibre filaments for fine dust pick up on hard floors; and stiff nylon bristles to dig into carpets. As a result, the Dyson 360 Vis Nav picks up more than any other robot across any floor.

For owners of furry things — like carpets and pets — the 360 Vis Nav also has features fit for your easy use. The wide diameter brush bar is also engineered to reduce tangling, while the HEPA filtration captures particles the size of pet dander. It also features a Quiet mode for pet-friendly cleaning. It can also climbup to 21mm, thanks to its dual link suspension system. Otherwise, the machine has a low profile and can clean under furniture up to 99mm in height, easily navigating under and around furniture.
