Orchard Road just got a little more caffeinated. Blue Bottle Coffee has officially opened its doors at Paragon, marking the cult-favourite Californian brand’s second outpost in Singapore — and its first in Southeast Asia to offer both indoor and alfresco dining. Tucked in the heart of one of Singapore’s most stylish shopping districts, the new café blends sleek design with a relaxed vibe, serving fan-favourite brews, freshly made waffles, and a space that invites you to linger a little longer.
Unlike its debut at LUMINE Singapore in Raffles City, the Paragon standalone outpost encourages one to slow down and soak in the surroundings. With an interior of stainless steel, oak and terracotta-toned plaster, the warm palette offers a comforting vibe. Conversely, the alfresco space is a perfect alternative for enjoying a cool early morning or a balmy evening. While we envision Blue Bottle’s debut standalone space in Singapore racking up a queue in the first month or two, there are roughly 70 seats to keep the line moving.
Decor aside, coffee is the main event here as one would expect. Guests can enjoy Blue Bottle’s signature espresso-based drinks, pour-overs, cold brews, and its popular New Orleans-style iced coffee. After sampling Blue Bottle’s signature blends — Giant Steps, Bella Donovan and Three Africas — our vote goes to the latter, especially when done iced to bring out the winey notes of the beans.
There are a host of complementary bites to accompany your beverage of choice, such as the internationally loved Liège waffle with its crisp, crusty exterior and soft, fluffy interior, or a refreshing Yoghurt Bowl consisting of creamy yoghurt, granola, and fresh strawberries. Both are exclusive to the Paragon outlet, and yes, they pair beautifully with your flat white. Other bites include pandan canelé with kaya, coconut kouign-amann, croissants and more.
There are more exclusivities as well; merch collectors rejoice as they can look forward to adding the Embroidered Blue Bottle Tote to their collections. Made in collaboration with Japanese design house Ball & Chain, the water-repellent tote is ideal for Singapore’s unpredictable weather. To mark the opening festivities, customers can personalise their totes for free with whimsical illustrations by Singaporean artist Joy Ho between 17 and 20 July and 25 and 27 July. Other small purchases include the Blue Bottle dripper, drinkware and more.
The Paragon outlet is a sign of bigger things brewing and marks the first of many more standalone openings, as Blue Bottle Coffee is partnering with Valiram to open at least 10 more cafés in Singapore by 2027. Your next Blue Bottle Coffee might be just around the corner.
